He was already in another galaxy but each time he travels a few hundred light years further. When one would program to compress the evolution of a musical instruments ability over decades of musical history in different styles in a performance of 5 minutes, the computer would probably crash after the operation “insert Marcus Gilmore rhythms”.

Soooooo good 👍🏼 musical , expressive , different
@d36williams2 жыл бұрын
some of what he does reminds me of Steve Gadd's half time beat that would interweave paradiddles and double stroke rolls, but Gilmore does more different subdivisions and starting odd rhythm figures on upbeats

This cat gets it. The true 'power' in the rhythms we drummers play, is in the rests, not the notes, what? It's true. Tonight, go outside and look up, see all the millions of stars, 'space' as we know it, is 99.9999999% empty space, let that sink in.

can you tell us what it is? i think it has something to do with the click sound after he hits bass drum hoops.
@EJWest554 жыл бұрын
@@tandrum719 Bass drum hoop has a trigger for the clicky sonar sounds, Marcus is using the rhythm of that and implying different subdivisions. 2nd Floor tom has a trigger for a chord sequence.

different regions of the drum are mapped to trigger different sounds and textures, so drummerslams can play the backing track like it's an instrument. where's my sticker?

How do I get my bassdrum to sound like this?

full heads, no hole, pitched higher, no muffling (mostly) 20 or 18" drum. Think of it as a melodic tom with a pedal.

Everyo e who cant play like him : I felt it was just video of marcus warming up playing randomised beats and all..not a solo? So complex his expression, and sure he has amazing chops, feel and swing. however for me personally, not that anyone cares or asked for my unknowledgable opinion. But I'd rather listen to cats like, Steve gadd, Jeff porcaro groove and shuffle over this man's cosmic, interdimensional playing, Credit to him though man's gotta a different type of feel.
