The very first year Eurovision was held, in 1956, the hosts, Switzerland, won. Spain won in 1968 and hosted in 1969, and was one of the 4 countries that won that year. In 1972 Luxembourg won, and hosted in 1973, and won again. Israel won in 1978, hosted in 1979, and won again. Ireland won in 1992, hosted in 1993, and won again, hosted in in 1994, and won again. But it's not common that host countries win. Especially not lately.
