The bass player IS Marcus Miller, and this is his regular band, though he plays with everyone. He was Miles' Davis bassist for a long time, annnnd wrote his top selling album. Check out The Panther, and Run For Cover by him. He wrote "Da Butt" you know, "doin da butt, sexy , sexy. Next time someone says Miller Time I dare you to think of beer.
