Marcus Miller Sire V3 Gen 2 Bass - Review & Demo

I'm a guitar player and I recently picked up a V3 to get my groove on. In the past I have had a MIM Fender Jazz bass and this V3 absolutely blows the Fender away in every aspect! It is a quality made instrument with the 2nd Generation having upgraded pickups. The rolled fretboard edges are also are also a plus. This bass is definitely a keeper!

I have the V7 swamp ash body. This bass is better than all my fender basses. Sire V7 = a hell of a modern Jazz Bass, ♥️♥️♥️

Thanks for the breakdown of the pots. I was getting pretty frustrated trying to dial in a tone and I just realized I had both picks at full leaving it at that middle "bump".

I own a Sire Marcus Miller P7 - their PJ - and it's so much better than Fender's version of the PJ...so I just snagged a 2nd Gen V3 from Pitbull Audio in Natural Brown - a color I assume was not available when you did this review - wonderful translucent brown with the visible mahogany woodgrain...the satin neck, rolled fretboard edges, string-through body option and the versatile preamp set up are unavailable anywhere else at this price...this type of quality is not easy to find at ANY price...these are not just great for the money...they're great instruments...period.

Having used the preamp on the SR300E bass before, this arrangement won't take much to get used to, but yes it'd be a little much as a first bass (especially with how that middle knob is stacked while the ones beside it aren't). I heard the tuners are bad, but are they any worse than the Squier Affinity Jazz tuners? I never had issue with those personally, but I'm looking for a bass that combines the two I already have (3 band EQ with a passive switch on a jazz bass body) and this is the least expensive, most interesting one I've found so far.

Hello! Are the Tunners machine great? I heard so many people saying that on the V3 (the non passive one ) that tuners suck. Also whats the difference with V3 and V3 2nd generation?

Great review. I am a lefty and torn between an MM S3 & the Ibanez SR300. Any thoughts? What are the tuners and bridge like on the S3? A couple of reviews suggested they aren’t the best…

The tuners are okay and do the job - on par with Squier. Longer term I would lean toward upgrading the tuners. Thanks for watching!

Wich Is the effect of the passive tone when the active mode Is on?

I bought the V3 2nd generation, but whenever I switch it to active mode, it does not sound while the bass works perfectly in passive mode. Is there a special set up for the active mode? (note: I have tried to change the battery)
