Historical importance of MVP is probably what prevents them from doing that, though it’s not a bad idea. I think they probably prefer what it is now with MVP = QB, OPOY = Skill Players, DPOY = Pass Rushers. Even DPOY has its biases as Cornerbacks almost never win, so I kind of hope Pat Surtain II wins this year as he will be the 2nd Corner to win I believe (Stephon Gilmore won some years back).

Have everybody forgotten what happened to the Eagles personnel when they won their only superbowl? They lost their starting quarterback who was giving them MVP numbers. Their backup quarterback led them the rest of the way, including beating the Patriots, who are considered the greatest dynasty during their run. Why is there no love for Jared Goff for MVP - he has lead the Lions to a 14-2 record (most wins ever for Lions) - has a 71.7% Completion and 4400 yards and 36 TDs; in arguably the hardest division in NFL this year. As for the Cowboys, I don't believe any coach will be truly successful there with Jerry being the owner. Jerry has to back off to allow a coach to succeed, but he also needs to understand the CAP - stop overpaying for guys that are average players and take a chance on a dynamic player and let the coaches have some fun. Bad culture in Dallas and has been for 25+ years because of Jerry "Springer" Jones.

Lamar can make a case that he is the best regular season QB in the league, which sounds crazy when you think about it but it’s true. Mahomes or Lamar is pretty much it for the regular season, ofcourse Mahomes dominates in the post season but the MVP is a regular season award.
