Cheap vs inexpensive… cheap refers to quality and inexpensive refers to price. The “cheap” items you’ve featured are by no means cheap, they are inexpensive.

I am pretty sure with the swiss army knives with the pens, you can lift up the parcel hook, put the pen sort of in the groove the hook was in, then close the hook on it. It gives you more to grip on when writing with it. Also, I remember hearing that carbon fiber combs do not cause static to build up like a regular plastic comb will. I am no blessed with hair anymore, and I use a brush on my beard, but just thought I would share those random bits of information I have found over the years. Awesome video as always, constantly making me want to buy more things I do not need!

Hi, I'm new to this channel. I just watched your first video, and it’s great stuff! I rarely comment on videos, but I had to comment about coffee. I recently did some calculations based on my step counter and the number of coffee cups I drink per day. I concluded that the average consumption of coffee for a medical physicist in a hospital is 12 liters per 100 km, or 406 oz of coffee per 62 miles for those in the US."Greatings from Czech Republic

Thanks for the video. Really interesting stuff! However, watching it made me grateful that my family background and current experience is a lot less materialistic; the financial cost of our gifts is much lower than yours, but I don't think we are any the worse at all for that. Just posting in case there are others who feel the same way. It would be awful if people thought it was the norm to exchange such expensive gifts.

Just fyi, there seem to be 2 little mistakes both in the video and in description regarding the luxury fountain pen. It should be “pilot custom 823” and not “A23” or “853” as is written in the video and in the description respectively. Very good choice though.

Great video! Love the recommendations for fountain pens! The Custom 823 was released in the 82nd year of the founding of Pilot and costs around 3 hundred dollars, which is why its called the 823. BTW I started doing the morning pages after watching your video and just recently purchased the 823 and have been using it for the past two weeks! What a coincidence! I also have a few questions about morning pages. I am curious as to what you do with all of the journals when they are finished. Do you ever go back and look at the past entries? You said you burned more of your trauma notes, but do you ever write things you would not want your kids or partner to read? Do you find yourself ever self censoring? Long term, what do you plan on doing with the many note books. Would they be for your children to one day read? Or to be thrown out? These are a few questions I am asking myself before starting. Not that I would have anything I am trying to hide, but these are a few things I have been thinking about.
@MarcusCreates3 ай бұрын
These are great questions and the truth is I’m not certain what I’ll do with them. A couple of rules though. They’re a stream of consciousness so I don’t self sensor. If it’s a subject where I feel I am self censoring I write on loose leaf sheets and destroy them. I never read my old journals. They’re not diary’s. They are thoughts. I don’t intent for my kids to read them when I’m gone, but I’m not hiding them either.

you must live in a fear-controlled society if ppl get shook at somebody pulling out a pocket knife. i carry a switchblade (yes illegal even here), and nobody ever has given me a side eye when i pull it out. most either dont care or want to try it. I use it for work bc many times i only have one hand and there is not a knife around that is better for one-handed use. and for any panzies that cry about a switch blade; they were made illegal bc they used to be made poorly and the blade could launch out of the handle and ppl (kids) would get hurt bc they would be in the way of the opening when hitting the button. I have 4 and every single one has a safety on them. if the blade hits resistance on the way out it disengages from he spring mechanism and falls back in.

I bought that Kaweco fountain pen and I hate it. Yes it’s inexpensive and it’s a fountain pen but it’s cheap, light plastic and it’s nib is really small and flimsy. I usually like your product recs, but this one was a huge miss for me.
@914Rocky3 ай бұрын
I might have liked the pen more if the nib wasn’t fine tipped.
@MarcusCreates3 ай бұрын
Oh no. Bummer. Sorry you don’t like it. Was it the Kaweco Sport or the Kaweco Liliput? I really like them both. That’s the trouble with recommending something as personal as a fountain pen to people - it’s hard to get it right for everyone. Thanks for sharing your experience nonetheless.
@MarcusCreates3 ай бұрын
@@914Rocky I’m trying to think what might be a better option for you. The Lamy Safari is another great cheaper fountain pen and comes with a very in-ornate, basic nib but writes beautifully (in my opinion). If you do find something you really like come back and let me know.

@@MarcusCreates I do have something I really like. It’s on my desk at work. I’ll let you know what it is when I next pick it up. I have to thank you for reintroducing me to fountain pens. I’m a lawyer and sign a gazillion documents. I now only sign my name with a fountain pen. It feels more official and important and they write so well. Unfortunately being afflicted with left-handedness a fountain pen is not in the cards for me-smearing. They just don’t dry fast enough for us lefties. I will say that I’ve been using a Supernote device for notes. And it’s a game changer. Although it’s a tablet, the writing experience is as close to paper as I’ve experienced. Goodbye pads for this guy. And no more smearing and ink on my hands. I think you’d like it for journaling. It’s definitely worth a look.
@914Rocky3 ай бұрын
@@MarcusCreates It’s the Kaweco Sport Fine. Not being an aficionado, I didn’t realize the nub size mattered. If the nub was a size or two larger I likely would have felt differently. Does Kaweco make one with a larger nib. Also, and this is not the fault of the Kaweco, as I only use this to sign my name, I much prefer a heavier pen. So, to your viewers, if you like a very lightweight pen that writes very finely, I do recommend the pen. Btw, thanks for responding so kindly to my less than kind comment. I need to improve my manners and my hot takes. It’s the worst part of social media. We speak (read: type) without thinking too much. I always tell my clients not to communicate anything important by email or text. It’s too easy to go off the rails or be careless. Letters are where it is at. So, sorry for my first not-as-polite as I would like comment.
