I remember right where I was standing when I heard this for the first time upon release. Absolutely unforgettable and lifechanging. Its THAT fucking good. This is essentially a primer for true black metal. Sheer perfection in every regard... the musicianship, the songwriting, the production, the artwork. This is why newer black metal bands fail, because its all mostly imitation. You cannot improve upon pure unholy perfection. 90's black metal is just a moment in time that can never be recaptured again.

What the hell are you talking about? This album is as generic, lame and unoriginal as its gets. Early BM was so cool because they all did NOT play blast beats 95% of the time. I hate Marduk because these suckers started this crap with Panzer Division. If i want to hear blast beats all the time i listen to some GRINDCORE. BM is about an atmosphere not about playing with thousands miles per hour. 9 out of 10 BM bands today sound like this because that is all they can think of. First BM kid: "Hey we are in a BM band, lets play as fast as possible like everyone else." Second BM kid: "Yeah, let's follow the trend, because following trends and doing what everyone else does is what Black metal is all about." Third BM kid: " Here is a picture that my little sister painted in artclass when she was 12 - that will be our cover artwork"

Sulphur souls, Materialized in stone, Wolves (from Those of the unlight) .. these are for me unequivocally best songs Marduk ever wrote. I love them especially on Live in Germania album ... and I am your Judas \m/

One of the very first BM albums I've ever listened to. Absolutely incredible record -- and I enjoy it even more today than I did back then. I also really love the amazing cover art a lot.

Seriously - it was this, Vader - "De Profundis" and Sinister's amazing "Diabolical Summoning"....... if any one of these albums were released today in 2021, they would be "album of the year" contenders. These bands were absolutely CRUSHING IT back in *nineteen NINETY-FOUR*. Wrap your head around that!

At that phase in their career the concept of Marduk and their ideas were rather new so it was accepted very well among Black Metal and Death Metal fans, it worked till 2004 but somthing changed after the album Plague Angel, i listened today to the album Wormwood and it is still good but not as good as the albums with Legion on vocals, this is not to say that the new vocalist is no good because he sang very good on Plague Angel, it is simply the band started to use new ideas that not suit the band or suit less than before, anyway, this album is vicious.
