I did as well. My 1st duty station after sub school in Connecticut was Mare Island on the USS Seawolf. 1974.

Did Nuke School there in the first half of '68. Made great friends and great memories. Sad to see what happened to it.

I went to Nuclear Power School at Mare Island in the early 70's The school was located at the far north end of the island close to the freeway. Do you have any pictures of the building or barracks just across the street? I know the building has been knocked down but don't know when.

Bravo Zulu! I spent many an hour staring out a window of Bldg. 755 (around the 4 minute mark) while the instructors were doing their best to teach me nuclear theory or something. Sorry to see it nearly all gone now.

It looks like Zimbabwe. Sad how uncivilized freaks arson and vandalized the historical property. They are repulsive morally bankrupt lowlifes. Sounds like you had a interesting job while working at the shipyard. My husband and I have been on the property a few times since it closed. We missed an opportunity in 1996 to go on a retired aircraft carrier that was being scraped. We would have had unfettered access to roam the ship. I can't recall the name of the retired aircraft carrier. Maybe someone who knows what I'm referring to can reply in the comments section. God bless 🙏 thank you for sharing your comment.

Last part is pretty closed to the area that Marine Security Training was. A place where young, hardworking, brave men once worked and trained is reduced to vandalism by thugs and crackheads! Structure in the background is what is believed to be a rappel tower used by FAST co

Sad to think a place with so much history rich in stories and events is a toxic waste land .... sad... very sad. Hopefully new technology will assist in cleanup.
