Because I've been watching Marek's excellent 15 minute masterpieces, KZbin has been recommending me other excellent videos like this. I think I'd seen this before, but the line about people who tidy as they go being controlling and sexually aggressive is....I don't even know. You didn't do too badly lol you just needed to keep white sauce on the heat and constantly whisk for probably 10 mins or til thick enough. Baloon whisks work better too. I think that's the name for them bulbous whisks lol.
