What a wonderfully positive and inspiring chap Danny Neil is…so lovely to see his passion for his home. I’m born and raised in ye olde London, yet I escape to the island quite a few times a year and am over just next week, to my beloved Bembridge! Chuffed to bits

You sirs, have earned a sub. Great video. Moved to Ryde 5 years ago from Brighton after we had our little girl (my partner is from the East Cowes). The longer I stay here, the more I love it.

Great video. I’m moving to Ryde after Christmas to be near my family in Newport. I’ve loved the island ever since I first visited as a child aged 5. I’ll be 42 in January lol my cousins have lived there all their lives and were born there, I’m moving from London / Essex area.

Same! We moved to Shanklin in September and our family is so much happier than living the concrete nightmare of life on the mainland.

went a few years back,lived in southampton so nipped down to lymington on the ferry and off we went, got to the island and tried to find something to eat, most places were shut but found a takeaway open so bought that , went looking for a layby to stop and eat, followed a dirty smokey bus whilst looking for somewhere to stop , no laybys on the island apparently ? pulled up at a car park where there was some sort of theme park, the cost to park was more than the value of my car , we left , followed smokey bus again , noticed all roads lead to newport including signs that show newport to both left and right ? headed for ferry , got back to mainland , never again

Best city to live on the island for a retiree??? Im considering Newport. Mainly because its north and faces the mainland... needing a hospital of course for my age... :)

I've lived on the island all my life and am planning on moving off, it's great for a holiday but to live on it is a nightmare, it's so expensive when you do need to get off, theirs very little to do on the island compared to the mainland, you can't order certain things to the island due to restrictions and being classed as the Channel Islands at times, the crime rate on the island is insane for the population, the hospital is crap and always full, the roads are terrible, unless you live in a main town it is likely you don't get good bus service, it may be beautiful but it's not nice to live here

Don't do it, the mainland is god-awful and in a spiralling decline. Or rather do it, in order to appreciate what you have lost.
@EternionelАй бұрын
@ have you been to the island recently, there’s almost no shops, no activities to do especially winter time, the roads are dreadful, the entertainment is mediocre at best, it’s so expensive to get off the island and you can’t get certain items shipped to the island or services

It's just one big old people's home! Don't come here to retire, it's worse than Cornwall. No jobs, shit pay, expensive rent(if your lucky enough)
