Very informative and really appreciate your honestly .I was bored of the x1 and i wanted the x3/x4 but way too big . I absolutely love the x2 ! It’s the perfect size for me , has the speed but so elegant / compact and sleek. Perfect for me as woman as I always found the x ranges too big ! Yes , it’s expensive for what it is but nevertheless it’s a joy to drive. Definitely only 2 can comfortably sit in the back and the doors don’t open as wide as I would expect but .... I still love it !

BMW X2 is a hatchback that the PR department named ”crossover” thanks to grey plastic and a few cm raised suspension. And the price is too high. For the same money as an entry level X2 you can buy the M140i with 340 PS.

Four years on and still no facelift as yet, maybe in 2023 but you know it will very likely have iDrive 8 and a curved all-in-one display screen (-_-) Marek, do you still feel the X2 is naff? I'm looking to swap an Active Tourer LCI for a fully loaded low mileage used X2 for better driving feel yet retaining some practicality & commonality and the stiff suspension should have mellowed a bit over time - as all BMW suspension seems to. A reasonable idea? Your Mini Countryman did interest me but can't find one with a heated steering wheel in UK, besides i really don't like the dash design ;-)

4 years is the usual time before facelift. BMW has just done the X1, so X2 should be up next.

Soon there will be X2 18d and X2 18i that will be less expensive. Car companies now days are selling us raised hatchbacks for 50K Euro which is ridiculous. I like the design though

How good are those Alcantara seats compared to the standard leather seats? More or less comfortable? Do they look or feel more or less premium? General idea on material durability? Thanks.
@MarekDrives6 жыл бұрын
AFAIK Alcantara is as durable (or more durable) than leather, but like leather it needs proper cleaning to last longer. It's more grippy, so you won't slide as much in your seat in the corners. I guess it's more comfortable in extreme climate situations (very cold/very hot), as leather tends to get unpleasantly hot or cold, when is parked. As for the looks, I think it looks good in sporty applications, less so, if you want a limousine feel.

First BMW that I like designwise, looks great. But for me from Germany it don't make sense for me to buy a premium car and spend lots of money.

tks marek, do you believe that the top notch handling justifies the price tag and is the suspension not too stiff for a SUV ? mean for day to day city usage ? could not drive it but sat on it and was slightly disapointed by the "old" interior which looks dated compared xc40 and actually even evoque with all these switches you could find in 8 years old bimmers, and the leather quality which sucks... but perhaps after a test drive one will be more enthousiast..
@MarekDrives6 жыл бұрын
This is hardy a top notch handling car. I think the E-Pace handled better, but was hindered by the gearbox software. XC40 is a better all-rounder, and I have a review coming up in two weeks. In short: nothing justifies the price of X2.

X2: "Driving Assistant Plus not only includes system from Driving Assistant, which include Lane Departure Warning, Approach control and Person Warning with light city braking function, High-beam Assistant and Speed Limit Info, but also includes camera-based Cruise Control with Stop&Go function as well as the Traffic Jam Assist." Yes it's an option, but you can spec it. Driving assistant has nearly all these features and can be specced at no extra cost. Why does it need active lane assist? it's one of the lowest models so ofcourse they save the best tech for the premium models.
@MarekDrives6 жыл бұрын
Lane departure warning, but not active lane assist. This car has lane departure warning.

@MarekDrives6 жыл бұрын
Sure it is, but most of its direct competitors already get better equipment. It' a matter of options you may select, if you want to. For a premium price I want premium options.

Are the models with the non electronic shifter fitted with the 6 speed gearbox?
@MarekDrives6 жыл бұрын
It's the same 8-speed box, just a different control mechanism. At least in Europe. I know The Straight Pipes tested an engine variant in Canada, which is no longer available in Europe.

Interesting. I've not experience an 8 speed that isn't electronic.Here in the UK

No active lane assist or other modern safety features because the underlying architecture is (not even that) older? Toyota retrofitted it to _all_ models 3 years ago! And Toyota is extremely technologically conservative. Sorry BMW, that is just lazy and/or penny-pinching.

+stubones Thanks for correction. I guess I misunderstood Marek's complaint on the missing features.
@MarekDrives6 жыл бұрын
+allierogers No, you did not mistunderstand me. Stubones misunderstood me. The feature I'm talking about is called Active Lane Assist (or Lane Keeping Assist in Toyota?), and X1/X2 don't get this feature. They only get lane departure warning.
