Will be visiting Piraeus next May on Marella Voyager. Was considering doing an Marella excursion to Athens but seeing your superb video will now do the hop on hop off buses instead. I have really enjoyed all of your cruise vlogs and have found them to be very informative, also your lovely accent has been very pleasing on the ears. Marvellush!

Wev are on Discovery on her repositioning cruise from Athens to Palma, we have been on before pre refurbishment so it was good to watch. Iona mentioned the large cruise ships in port. Just as note for you followers there are pluses and minues to these very large ships. To start with they are both USA fleets and unlike Marella you are charged daily gratuities and for drinks., they will offer packages so you need to check the prices before hand to get the true cost of the cruise. Another consideration is that these ships are big, Odyssey carries over 4000 passengers with double occupancy. there can be problems getting a seat for shows etc.

Yes I've heard about high gratuities and ends up costing more than expected 4000 people on the Odyssey, wow that is a lot of people compared to this one for sure. Would you have a look at my ship tour video and let me know if it's a lot different after refurb, like the squid& anchor and live rooms? Did the atrium look like this pre refurb? I thought repositioning was when they moved her over to the Caribbean for the winter months? Im learning so much it's great! Ix

@@IonaMacinnes Odyssey holds 4200 with double occupancy, 5500 when all berths are filled. The repostioning tis in two stages. eastern Med to Western Med then Med to the Caribbean. We were on Discovery shortly after she joined the fleet so it is some years ago, we will know better about the refurb when we sail on her

Athens is nice but what's all that graffiti about? I thought Glasgow was bad. The camera work and soundtrack is really good Iona. I can imagine the smell from the fish market in that heat. There's some beautiful ships in the harbour. I would've like to have seen you singing Iona....I'm sure you would've brought the house down! lol. @daviemcf haha I deleted out forever in blue jeans once before and Mum kidded on she didn't know me!! Honest story, I was pretty bad but wanted the free t-shirt the hotel gave to the singers. Not these days, I couldn't have gone for breakfast the next day if I'd gone up haha! I'll get a wee ship tour and room tours first then get Chania (Crete) up. I've watched your first three vids on Marella Discovery, I was on the same week as you but we had another week to follow. My wife and I were amazed at the travel that you went through to get there and how you stayed up quite late on the first night. We flew from Newcastle and were very tired the first night due to lack of sleep due to a taxi pick up a 4am. Your vlogs are interesting and you are good at doing them. PS, we thought that the Elvis show that we went to see was terrible.

I would have been jealous of another 2 weeks holiday aboard but we went to Oban, Mull & Iona after so it wasn't so bad. You should have a look at these videos too once they are up after all the Marella ones, ha I'm always on a boat of some description. We didn't see the Elvis show, I wonder if that was week 1 or 2 of your cruise. We had the magician who I thought was great and the other shows were the entertainment team. Did you see the magician? @honingholes7026 yes it would have been even easier to fly from Benbecula. However, I would only have had a 15kg baggage allowance, plus we had another week off so needed to drive up to Oban, over to Mull etc. Could never rely on the plane (or ferry) going the day before the cruise so need to be off the island a day before at least. Ah good you liked the magician. Im editing the Crete video now so you'll see that soon, thats great. Ix
