I have been using it for about 15+ dives. Great computer with one downside, we cannot turn it off when not used.

I’ve been diving the mares Sirius computer for a about 20 dives (recreational dives) so far. I am still getting used to the functions and settings, but I’m loving it so far. The dive screens are easy to see and use while diving. Selectable dive screens to choose what info you want to see on your dive is very handy. I cant wait to see your review after you dive it in Egypt.

Quick question: How do you turn it off or put it into sleep mode. I just got it and checked the manual and couldn't figure out how to turn it off.

It doesn’t have a sleep mode, as far as I’m aware. Just let the battery die when not using it for some time. It keeps all your info except the date and time. Date and time are easy to reset with the Bluetooth connection.

Does the dive screen appear when you dive or do you have to switch to it? And how do you do it? There are no manual on how to use this or no video that shows this.

@@fuexiong88 it will automatically go into dive mode when you reach about 5 feet deep. Or you can set it to pre dive mode just before you enter the water. To get to pre dive mode press and hold enter to bring up the menu screen. Scroll up or down to predive. Press and hold enter to enter predive mode. Now it’s ready for the dive.

I got this and I'm glad I did I feel like this would be great for sidemount diving my only concern is the straps are they well secured because I don't want to loose it

Looking at the strap I'd have that off and replace with a NATO style strap straightaway. But other than that, looks OK... Also can't believe the wireless charge pad isn't USB-C. But not a deal breaker...

Awesome first review! I understand, that it's a brand new dc, but in your opinion (after egypt) with your current experience: Aqualung i770r or Sirius? I need an AI dc, and the next step would be Shearwater, but as a first computer, and price wise (the cheapest AI Shearwater is double the price of Aqualung or Sw in my country) is way out of my league. The Aqualung is awesome because of the app, and I can set it up in seconds, and just sync them to the device. Does this have something similar?

Spend the $100 more to get the Teric, this is way behind the times.

It's £400 + difference in price in the UK. Before you take the air integration into account, another £100 difference. So it's not directly comparable to the Teric.

@@jkowall Shearwater is Canadian so they hardly cost anything to import to the USA, hence you get good prices. Once it's exported trans atlantic, the price of Shearwater goes up alot.

It’s about AU $200 to $300 cheaper than the Teric in Australia but doesn’t appear to have the same features or build quality. Having tried to get out of warranty repairs done on a Mares computer in the past I suspect getting the battery replaced will not be easy. Personally I’d spend the extra for a Teric. I have the Perdix and it’s been rock solid for the last 3 years with great support from Shearwater.

You can upload dives to laptop / desktop, but it's clunky. Does work though. Be careful of errors with dive planning (deco planning) as deco stop times change (go forward then back and the stop time changes). This might of been picked up on the firmware update, but beware the firmware.....my Sirius is back to the shop because it locked up during the firmware update.

Also, the App loads a horrible graph that doesn't fit the screen properly in landscape view (I have a pixel 6), increments on graph are not clearly defined. If the drop point cursor line had time stamp info it would make a lot more sense and be of some use.

The current gradient factor (GF NOW) is the highest value of inert gas pressure, expressed as a gradient factor, among all 16 tissues of the algorithm at the present moment. The gradient factor at the surface if the diver ascends now (GF @ SURF) is the value of GF NOW calculated at surface pressure (Fig. 34). Mares Sirius Manual page 19 Is this also GF99? I'm not sure.

Yeah, GFNOW does look like GF99 and they pair it with their GF@SURF which makes sense. Later on p.22: _ GF NOW: this helps you track your inert gas in excess of ambient pressure._

Could be because it’s cheaper to produce using micro usb instead of type C. Less overall cost to the end user. At least it’s a charging pad where you plug it in and leave it.

@@Al556 Half it's price dive computers use USB-C nowadays. I think the real problem is when forget to bring charging cable(Shouldn't but happens), you might find all your friends use USB-C and no chance to charge.

Well Shearwater PEREGRINE AND TERIC wireless charger still use micro usb for thier wireless charging device. Not sure whats wrong with Shearwater too. and PERDIX 2 user might as well needs to replace their AA batteries every 40 hours. Get Apeks DSX if USB-C is a concern

Bluetooth is a great addition compared to the horrible dongles Mares had for some of there other and older computers. The compass has an interesting feature a peer instructor who brought a Sirius showed me: (From Mares Sirius Manual page 8) - "you can set a reference bearing. This is useful for instance if you are on a boat and there is a landmark on the shore that you can use for alignment to reach a specific spot on that dive site. A triangle will appear to indicate the set bearing. Additional symbols will appear as well: squares at 90 degrees, triangles at 120 degrees and two parallel lines at 180 degrees, as an aid in navigation for square, triangular and reciprocal courses. Once underwater, align the arrow and start swimming in that direction." Looks great especially in person, though still like my Teric :)

Just to confirm, there's really no way of using it for freediving? That's kind of a missed opportunity from Mares, given the small size and neat design.

I was surprised also, but I couldn't find any settings on the computer or in the manual and the Sirius is not listed under freediving on Mares' website. Maybe one day they'll include an apnea mode in an update...

Outside of the USA / Canada, Shearwater is a good 40% more expensive than this
