Margaret Rutherford is Agatha Christie's Miss Marple - Classic 60s Film Series

Between 1961 and 1964 Margaret Rutherford starred in four classic Miss Marple films, three of which were based on Agatha Christie stories.
Murder She Said (1961) - Based on The 4.50 from Paddington.
Murder at the Gallop (1963) - Based on After the Funeral.
Murder Most Foul (1964) - Based in Mrs McGinty's Dead.
Murder Ahoy (1964) - An original story.
We celebrate Dame Margaret Rutherford, the finest Miss Marple in our opinion, and review the four films that she starred in, along with her real-life husband, Stinger Davis and Charles Tingwell as Inspector Craddock.

Absolutely love and own the Agatha Christie movies starring ms Rutherford. Never get tired of watching them. She wasn’t the ms marple in christies’ books but she herself just made these movies wonderful. I loved her but Joan hickson was truly ms Jane marple

Unforgettable performances of three stories very loosely based upon Agatha Christie originals. For instance, Murder Most Foul has Miss Marple, but the book, 'Mrs McGinty's Dead' has Hercule Poirot. Classic!

Margaret Rutherford and Stringer Davis also made a small cameo as Miss Marple and Mr Stringer in The Alphabet Murders (1965) walking along the street when Poirot (Tony Randall) and his assistant (Robert Morley) walk out of a doorway. Nice little shot of Miss Marple and Poirot sizing each other up as they pass each other.

She was very special as an actress. Yes, Stringer Davis was in many of her films. He nursed her at home when they were older and she had Alzheimer's. Such love.

When I saw the movies I decided to read all the Agatha Christies novels. My only disappointment was there was no Mr. Stringer in the books. I always thought Miss Christie should have thought of him.

Lionel Jeffries ruins Murder Ahoy with his desperate scene stealing and ‘look at me’ throughout. I felt sorry for Margaret Rutherford having to compete with that. The other three films are superb.
