Vocal and veena! My father who is 90 informed me that one Mr. Budalur Krishnamoorthy sastrigal was doing vocal and veena long before. Today it is heartening to see this performance by Ramana! He conveys his blessings!

Brilliant and soul-stirring! Every piece in this recital is a gem. Enjoyed in particular the pieces in Saranga, Keeravani, Gavati, and the final signature piece "Arunachala Siva". Thank you Ramana. Enormous vidwat (knowledge and expertise) accompanied by enormous vinayam (humility) at this young age of 16 - what a truly blessed soul! Sumesh Narayan on the Mridangam and Prasanna on the Ghatam are outstanding in their support and embellishments. Thank you Ragamalika TV for bringing another outstanding recital to us.

Such a soothing melody coming from his Veena! I like the way he actually sings a line, then plays it on the Veena! Flawless technique! His Veena is talking! Very capable accompanists! Wonderful concert! I thank the organizers for bringing such talented youngsters to the stage!

There have been many talented young vainikas in recent years, and they have broken new ground in terms of sheer brilliance of innovation in playing technique and in terms of crossing the limits of the instrument itself. Balachander is the hidden guru of whom many of them aspired to be Ekalavyas. This player too, as he himself makes clear, is one such. But the truly unique quality of this restrained musician is the rooted quality of his music. This tree has more root than branch right now, and this is what gladdens my heart, because this music will never experience any burnout. His reticence in naming favourite artists tells me as much already. Every time I listen to him, I'm scared of how he will encash his talent. I've come out of this cloud so many times now that I allow myself to think the best of this little master is yet to come.

A fantastic concert cleansing your mind and soul, soaked with Divinity. Though I attended many mmu concerts live, some I had to miss because of attending concerts elsewhere. Thanks maximum media for the TV telecast and you tube upload so that no one can miss it. So inspiring and admirable this lad Ramana is. This kid is unbelievably nuanced. I just wish he wouldn't have such an "electronic" sounding setup for the instrument. He needs to bring out the natural beauty of it without making it sound like an over processed keyboard.
