@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 just to be clear, I "enjoy" a classic Bugs Bunny cartoon. This is something more. This was inspiring, educational, and for lack of a better expression, amazing. But watching this one get a new lease on life under your skilled hands has been heartwarming. Bead rollers are one of the coolest tools ever made in my opinion. You are right Chris, a bead roller really does up your game dramatically. Besides making stuff look cool, it doesn't take much to increase the strength of a piece of metal a lot. Yeah it takes a lot more time to do a project that looks and fits really nice, like the panels that you made, but it was worth every minute. Even if nobody else ever sees the floors, you know that they were done right, and you can take pride in what you did. There are so many people on you tube that just rough cut a piece of metal and screw in 40 or 50 self-tapping screws, and then slop on a bunch of seam sealer and call it good. Does it work ? Probably, but that's not the point...

If you don't have a buddy, you can always power your bead roller a la the BOM muppets from Shropshire. Think it used a drill motor (geared down a bunch, obvs) and a foot pedal so you can control the go-whoa with your hands full.

21:45 Why are you drilling a hole in it? Why not stretch the metal so it is all one piece and then drill the hole the size of the bolt? IOW, bang the depression into it? If you weld a depression into it, will it have the same strength as if you banged out the depression? Were the original pans flat? I noticed there is no shape in the piece other than the body lines you put in it. Did the original have any crown (presumably upside down as it is the floor) or front to back and side to side shape?
@kiwiclassicsandcustoms91609 күн бұрын
It's really too deep to hammer in, if you had a big press and the right shaped dies maybe. No crowning in the floor pans like topside sheet metal just lots shapes stamped into them to give them their strength 😁😎👍
