Nice! I need to push trough all the cool stuff and do a physical only playthrough myself. I kinda was on the "wow, bosses are kinda overdone and probably too much solo" side myself, but your response and vids you linked proved me wrong. It seems to be fun to crack those bosses with different builds and different approaches. My first PT was full quality (skewered towards Dex side) with big emphasis on weapon skills (I had 130 FP by the end), and I also used summons - it was kinda a curb-stomp most of the time, because weapon skills a really strong, especially when you can break their aggro and use slower skills, like Ancient Lightning or Cloudform or just spam faster skills, like blood blade or flame of redmanes. I had to cheese Malenia hard, though xD P.S. Do Godrick next! Just did him on my sorcery build (ended up not using spells at all, magic infused longsword ended up enough for him).

The fact even at RL 1 you still have access to decent ranged damage during this fight is crazy. We need a community psa about firebombs and crafting items in general. I feel for how strong they are in the early to midgame the fact they are still only "underrated" is criminal .

Dude, I use Fire Pots even on my RL140 character. The amount of damage they pump out, and for free considering they're one of the few Cracked Pot items with no FP cost, is liberating.

Consumables scale so they're usable well into the game

consumables.get even stronger later in the game. But unfortunately most of the community has a fuckin conniption fit when any even mentions that the consumables are actually good and should be used.

@@leftovernoise i think the main reason why people sleep on consumables is because other methods of ranged DPS are better, and most people who run melee builds just run towards the bosses/enemies to do more damage rather than throw a consumable at them. That being said instances like this is where consumables are probably the most useful. melee build against an enemy/boss that moves in and out frequently.

@@Velindian They are super helpful for a pure melee that has no ranged option. Malenia's "worst" move, waterfowl dance can legit just be canceled by a single ice pot or blood pot.

Light load rolling gives you further distance, that much I know for sure. It feels like it's also faster to go from one roll to another but I'd need frame data to prove that.

Light roll gets you caught in some stomp attacks that can be dodged with a mid roll (i.e. crucible knights, ghost godfrey) so I don't like it in this game

Despite all bosses in Elden RIng, Margit is one of my fav boss. His fight is quite unique and it feels like im fighting a guy with wits. Mixing his attacks depend where you are and punish you for being too greedy. It doesnt turn into a jump attack fight like the other bosses. I have to utilize my position and I need to know when he attacks and when I can attack between his attacks.

#1 Flamberge fan popping in here to just say, any excuse to use Katana Zero music is a good one. Also did you know that Flamberge has crazy one shot potential on players with the sword dance ash of war given the proper stat set-up and level. Not giving away my secret sauce on that just yet but it’s possible at meta levels if my math is right.

The only parameter for SL1/RL1 is that your character remains level 1. I've rarely seen people complain about this in DS2, or DS3 even though those games also had stat boosting rings, and DS3 had the prisoner's chain, which is much like the soreseal.

Limgrave is so fun. But I really felt the other areas were just as poorly or lazily designed. The access to every legacy dungeon should have had a unique boss blocking your path. If every legacy dungeon was as meticulously designed as Stormveil Castle, this game could have been my GOTY but unfortunately, it wasn't.
