Sviatoslav Richter played on the occasion of Russian hero Stalin's funeral, not MY. ;-) 'Dieser Pianist...das ist ein Pianist für Rachmaninoff!' [Maria Yudina über Richter] - aand Richter played on the occasion of Maria's funeral. What did he play? - Rachmaninoff of course! Lol - Things turn out differently than you think!

I don't know if Yudina played for Stalin's funeral. If from the movie "The Death of Stalin", probably not ture.

Yes Richter played on Stalin's funeral. Nasedkin, Maria Grinberg, Stas Neigauz, Lesha Lyubimov, Richter played at Yudina’s coffin, Davydova sang. Final, with her favorite Beethoven 7th Symphony.

No wonder their fellow pianist pupils were divided between Sofronitsky and Yudina : suffice to say both are absolutely top-notched soulful musician each in their own way. Yet, it's baffling to learn that despite Stalin's favour, Yudina's fate/career went so differently from Sofronitsky!
