Today on AD, Margot Robbie takes us behind the scenes of ‘Barbie’ for an exclusive tour of the Barbie Dreamhouse. When tasked with bringing these iconic childhood toys to life on the big screen, Greta Gerwig enlisted the skills of production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer. Taking inspiration from Palm Springs midcentury modernism they’ve created a whimsical fuchsia pink fantasy where slides replace stairs and there’s not a wall in sight-when touring this impressive set it’s hard not to feel a rush of playful nostalgia as Greta states “I wanted to capture what was so ridiculously fun about the Dreamhouses."

@@Shenanigans_333 depending on the timeline I don’t think they may be “born” yet. I believe Chelsea and Stacy were released in the mid to late 90s. I remember in the 90s books skipper was a young adult who had to babysit toddler Stacie I believe that’s when she was released. I could be wrong but it depends on the movie timeline. Barbieland needs to be turned into a museum or a theme park. So much love and effort has been put into this by the crew, and this set is a testament to the artistry of set design that is so overlooked in today's CGI filled world. As Greta Gerwig said, this set is designed specifically to appease how children see Barbie. I think it's a complete waste if actual children (and/or people who used to be children) never get to see it. I'd pay for an entire cross world trip to the US specifically to go see Barbieland.

@@mairasuhail8954 elle fanning is beautiful actress however she has nothing to do with barbie except she is blonde and skinny. Even though barbie has so many different versions this movie is clearly inspired by the original barbie who is an unbelievably successful business woman, she has many jobs so definitely older. And since it is a doll movie (the whole point of the video is everything look like toy) it is normal they choose someone who has more sharp facial features to keep the plastic doll vibe not round and soft face like elle and when i saw the trailer i immediately think about 'barbie life in the dream house' series and that version is more smilar to margot too and lets be honest if it wasnt for ryan and margot it wouldnt get the half of the attention it gets now

On one hand the set is amazing, on the other I think the amount of pink would make me go crazy after half an hour tops, oof.

As someone who used Barbies and always paid special attention to how the toys were made, this is perfectly accurate in every way. This needs to win an Oscar for Production Design. I can't accept any other suggestions.

2 problems though. 1, kids used real water for they're pools. 2, the decal on the fridge is supposed to be on the door and shelves on the inside
