Maria Callas & Franco Corelli in Poliuto Duet (Excellent Sound)

Only Callas and Corelli could sing this rarely performed opera!! I have remastered the sound and create the cover!! Hope to enjoy!!

Sadly this would be one of her last performaces at LaScala. She would return for performances of Medea in May and June 1961 and these five performances (3 in December and one each the following May and June would be her farewell not only to LaScala but Italy itself.

Τι να πω, φίλε μου, είσαι αληθινός καλλιτέχνης! Το κάλυμμα ωραιότατο, ο ήχος εξαιρετικός, το δε ντουέτο Κάλλας-Κορέλλι απίστευτο. Αλλά βλέποντας και τούς τρεις άλλους συντελεστές (Μπαστιανίνι, Ζαχαρίου, Βόττο), μόνο μπορώ να φανταστώ τι θα ήταν η παράσταση αυτή! Χίλια μπράβο κι ευχαριστώ.

I can't imagine that there ever was another era in the history of opera that could compare to the GOLDEN years of Callas,Corelli,del Monaco,Tebaldi,Olivero,Sutherland ,Kraus,Vickers,Price,Simionato,Scotto,di Stefano,Moffo etc.etc.There were SO MANY excellent singers between the 1950's to the late1970's;It will be extremely difficult to match,EVER,and Callas and Corelli would be at the top of the list!.
