Eh. Unfortunately we can trust liars. Without the ability to discern fact fiction opinion and be led blindly... It's also Education in being able to discern especially those educated in lying and getting you to believe the art of the lie. Ya know I remember when Syria Libya and Egypt lit up as well as if this is the first time social media has played a prominent role. @@resw5394 I'm from the USA that is considerably inaccurate. It isn't simply majority rule. We have States with their own laws as well as Federal Statutes. Federal Statutes can't be simply overturned by majority rule nor are they supposed to be ignored as such policies are supposed to truly dictate the basic laws of all within the borders to which all are sworn to uphold and defend. That said, if Federal Statutes were to be truly challenged the amount of challenge to them aren't simply done in one election cycle. It would potentially take at least 2 or 3 full election cycles by all of the territories to block and or put in place the people to overturn such laws. This continuously creates a minority of popularity so that overtime nothing is done in a rash way and gives society time to reflect on what is going on at the elected level especially in regards to blocking or approving legislation. That doesn't mean our elected leader's or those hired to protect our freedom's have always done so. The difference is we never gave them the power to truly take away what they've sworn to defend. Unfortunately we don't always hold them accountable either especially in regards to actually preserving our rights freedoms including consequences for the attempts at removing such. One of my favorite quotes. "What is popular isn't always right what is right isn't always popular". Our founders ensured some minority rights. It took a few hundred years to convince society including through war we should all be considered equal worthy of the same rights no matter gender color of skin and or religion.

In fact crimes went down drastically under Duterte: PH crime rate drops by 73.7% in 5 years under PRRD: DILG By Christopher Lloyd Caliwan February 22, 2022, 1:17 pm MANILA - The country's crime rate has dropped by 73.76 percent in the first five years of President Rodrigo Duterte's term, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said Monday night. Speaking to the President during his Talk to the People briefing, Año said index crimes in the country dropped to 34,552 in 2021 from 131,699 in 2016. Index crimes refer to offenses considered as serious in nature with sufficient frequency and regularity citing murder, homicide, rape, robbery, carnapping, physical injuries, and eight other special complex crimes. "Mula (rin) noong nakaraang taon ng 2021 kumpara sa taong 2020, makikita po natin sa total crime incidents na umaabot po ng 374,277 ang volume. Sa year 2021 ay 360,573 o mayroong pagbaba ng 3.66 percent sa total crime incidents (From the past year of 2021 as compared to 2020, we have seen that total crime incidents reached a volume of 374,277. In 2021, we have 360,573 or a decrease of 3.66 percent in total crime incidents)," the DILG chief added. www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1168274

Sadly, we have a very immature population in the Philippines. Anti-intellectualism and slave-mentality is rampant. Others will even defend corrupt politicians to maintain their precious "status quo" - an "us" against "them" narrative where intellectuals and critics are blamed for the country's plight and considered as public enemy #1. Charlatans can play with this vulnerability effectively because of social media. See Rodelia's comment for example, that's a brainwashed pawn right there (I wonder if she's one of those paid trolls or if she's just playing dumb for free.)

Back in 2015, I felt the subtle shift of the political climate here in the Philippines and even then, I was thinking this is going to be disastrous for our country...but I didn't see that it was also happening in other countries ---- social media is really keeping us occupied with all the negative emotions (yes, happening as I am typing this message). Nowadays, I am fixing my algorithm by watching a lot of "positive" vloggers but I am also keeping it grounded in reality by watching news and reading editorials. It also pays to ask people around you from time to time. Keep talking even if you disagree, just so there's a flow of information.

Yeah, Philippines has become the paragon of every country's "do not do" lesson. Add the fact that right now the country's embroiled in a human trafficking scandal where folks are shipped to Myanmar and everywhere else for "many reasons". One senator, Risa Hontiveros, perhaps the most visible and remaining "face" of the opposition in the PH government, has been at the forefront of the battle against human trafficking. If I remember correctly, she was also in the cross hairs of Duterte and his troll/propaganda army because of the human trafficking links with Chinese POGOS (some illegal gambling stuff).

While she is on this book tour she's safe, but as soon as she goes home this beautifully insightful and courageous woman will most likely be arrested, found guilty of trumped up charges in a kangaroo court, and imprisoned for life. She could easily stay and seek sanctuary anywhere she wants in the west, but she will never stop fighting, and is willing to be a martyr for democracy if that's what it takes. Her Rappler is the least trusted media in the Phils. What she is doing is lobbying in the USA to get sympathy. She cannot fool majority of Filipinos. Her Rappler was caught some fake news then later removed. lol CNN Philippines most trusted media outlet Posted by PUBLiCUS In Pahayag, Press Release 0 comment Aug 3, 2021, PUBLiCUS Asia Inc has just released its second quarter poll, conducted from 13-19 July 2021. It is a nationwide purposive sampling survey comprised of 1,500 respondents drawn from a research panel of approximately 100,000 Filipino registered voters maintained by a Singapore-based firm. With the fierce battle for viewership, most traditional news outlets have diversified their businesses to include online channel - from just mirroring their main channel, to now a stand-alone business. The first to adapt always gets an advantage, but credibility is built with consistency, fair and balance news. And with a 60% high trust, CNN Philippines captures the high trust rating top spot. GMA7 and Philippine Daily Inquirer round-up the top 3 spots as the most trusted media outlet. While Rappler and ABS CBN (online) garnered the highest total low trust ratings.

I saw this brilliant lady while she was encountering the decline of democracy in the Philippines as Chump was elected! Full circle return and no surprise a Pulitzer came her way. She absolutely brilliant in how she communicates the science of her experiences in the way passionate teachers have… pay attention to everything she says, believes… writes. You brain will thank you as you begin the true “final frontier “. The brain: 😶♥️♥️

You're right. Also, that's what her news company does in the Philippines, spread hate and publish misleading news articles. That is the reason why she and the journalists that work in her company is hated by majority of the Filipinos. Because even if the fact is obvious backed by evidence, they still continue to spread misleading information just because they are against the government.

All hero died. She is spouting hypocrisy about freedom. A choice to come to this show and have an one on one interview is already a freedom. If u do this to other countries suh as china, middle east, russia, south korea, north korea, japan, etc ...talk bad about the president, they will put a hit into ur head . She is not even filipino but an indonesian who happens to have a business in philippines spreading lies...now, she is crying because she lose her multi million dollars business, atacking the president... What did reesa do to the philippines? Nothing...she is biased . She is not helping filipinos but only helping herself to become wealthy

She is a liar. Not all Filipino voters have Facebook. People voted for Duterte because he was a good strategist. Duterte never lost in any election when he was still a local executive be it as a Mayor or Vice-Mayor for 20 plus years. He knows what is going in the ground!

That is really true, now we are in living hell right now on my country. Rising prices, social media trolls, literally everything happens because of social media, because everything that spreads on there like brainwashed stuff, it grows. and it can impact not just us, but on the entire nation. I would definitely recommend a book called "The age of Surveillance Capitalism.", if you didn't read it.
