@@MariaCrowley Hi Maria!!! I met my husband while he was touring in Panama serving in the Army 40 years ago 😅 Fresh out HS and wondering what I was going to do with my life next. He was about to return back to the States, so we hang out and travel the country for three months together. After he returned to the US, he kept writing me (no internet then🤭) for about three months and one day he just showed up unannounced with a ring and asked me to marry him. The rest is history!! 40 years later, three kids, and three grandchildren❤

@Maria. HI Maria, Jim in San Diego and this is the 2nd time watching this channel only because the 1st time was so long ago and I remembered the "5 best beaches" questions, so perhaps Akumal is in the future for my girlfriend who is definitely Mexican and lives in Tijuana, me, San Diego so nice to be so close. I've traveled Mexico driving much of the country and camping everywhere well close to 40 years ago, younger and no money but you get it and not a single regret. The only paved road in Cabo then was Hwy 1 into town, everything else was dirt tributary roads but it didn't take long for it to "launch" and not many years later, another friend and I returned with our jetskis, also to dive and snorkel. Back then they did not even know what a jetski was, such an opportunity and we discussed it, a rental business but also in Mazatlan, PV, and Acapulco, oh well, another missed opportunity, yet we should've found a way. Anyway, I've seem most if not all of the Mexican vids and William's in Costa Rica as I too was there years ago, stayed in Jaco more than once and visited the same areas. Your vid on Greece sealed the deal for me as it's been on my mind literally for 2 decades now? I've never heard a bad thing about it so thanks to you two, that "bucket list" is getting closer. Love the two of you so very nice people traveling and sharing with us and Lord knows, the time it must take to get the editing just right. At the end of the day, saludos y suerte to each of you! And hey, if you can help, in the last 2 days I asked William what manufacture/model drone does he use, very impressive videos and lots of nice comments so I'm interested in acquiring one, for family outings and vacations. I did receive an email notification that he responded yet nothing when I clicked on the like to that specific video, hmm, muy confondido! So if you see this and can help, I thank you in advance, gracias, gracias! Regarding Spanish I think you mentioned 4 years of college? Me, only 6th grade, 45 rpm records we were expected to memorize y Senor Burrell, so very strick and no excuses with este hombre, ja ja! Good teacher and I learned. Perhaps as it helped me, you could relate to this book even more. It's called the "Big Read Book of 550 Spanish Verbs" and truly wonderful. Has a section for the 50 most used verbs which has been very helpful to me! Conjugation of the verbs could just be the toughest for me. Each verb normally 2 pages or more in both English and Spanish, simplemente un libor fanastico! Suerte amigos y por favor, recuered mi pregunta de el drone y sienpre, via con Dios.

Wow! Loved it! You are so well spoken and articulate. I was always intrigued by your presence in William’s Videos and I loved learning more about your roots and your career. You exuberate health so I’m not surprised you work in health care. As for the Spanish, I have also been trying to learn Spanish for 7 years as I travel several months a year to Mexico but find it so hard to motivate myself to study (even through I fluently speak 3 other languages) I combine study from a teach yourself Spanish Berlitz book with a Spanish exercise verb book, I have embarrassing conversations with locals and I watch Spanish shows on Netflix. Here in Mexico I read random signs and posters while I bike. There is no magic formula… everybody is different and what may work for one may not work for another. Great video again☺️. cheers from Mazatlan Mx

You guys make a cute couple, so if it's meant to be, it'll be! You're a great catch! Regarding learning Spanish I was preferring to do it one on one with a tutor but I think I'm going to try Babble (so?) or Duolingo. Good luck with it, and I look forward to perhaps seeing you and your p-p-pooool guy exploring again. Cheers!!

this was wonderful to get to know you better... I definitely need to go back and watch yours and William's videos from the locations in Oaxaca. I know I have seen some of them but not all. I speak way less Spanish than you. I was enthusiastic about it at first but I can order food in a restaurant, buy groceries, tell a taxi driver where to go... what else do I need? and being in the Puerto Vallarta area I would say 80% of the time I speak Spanish to someone they speak back to me in English. A couple of my best experiences have been with taxi drivers where they spoke about as much English as I spoke Spanish! your friend Joel in Bucerias (Moving to Mexico) has great Spanish lessons in a playlist on his channel. Awesome to hear the story of how you two met... I had always just assumed you had met travelling in Mexico. I want to know how you afford to travel for months at a time if you arent working... though if you were working you probably could get that much time off! looking forward to part 2!!

@@MariaCrowley actually I dont think Spanish is that hard. so many of the words are the same or similar to English. and because I am Canadian that was taught French for 4 or 5 years in public school there is also a lot of overlap with Spanish as well (numbers for example). the hard part is understanding all the forms of words depending on the gender or tense of words. my point was I can speak well enough to live and survive in Mexico that I dont really have any motivation now to learn more. I look up a few words per week when I know I am going to be in certain situations that require specific words.

@@wl5609 I definitely agree. I worked in a hospital for part of my dietetic internship and the focus is more on pushing medications than any diet or lifestyle changes which of course is up to the dietitians to educate the patients on but I wish more doctors would push diet and lifestyle. At the same time, many older adults are set in their ways and don’t want to listen to what the dietitians have to say. The hospital in general can be a frustrating place to work in.

The good news for type 2 diabetes is that it can be reversed unlike my condition! You just have to make small changes at a time. Liquid sugars like soda/sweet tea and processed sweets will really spike blood sugar so those are best to avoid. Choose mostly non-starchy vegetables and include protein, fat and fiber with each meal. Exercise is really beneficial because it can lower your blood sugar. Maria, great video and life story. So there are many ways to get your Spanish going. I think the various channels are helpful but nothing like being in Mexico. There are schools offering language classes. In Oaxaca there is an excellent school and you can join by the week. Classes for 3 hours a day. Great teachers and lots of resources. The chance also to volunteer where you would use the language, like at an orphanage. Of course it all has to fit with your current plans. But going there and staying for a few weeks makes a huge difference, And you could make plenty of videos in and around Oaxaca.

Thank you for the info! I would love to do a Spanish school. It's definitely something I'm going to look into.

If you're really serious about becoming fluent in Spanish, you could study Spanish in Mexico for very reasonable prices. Check UNAM's CEPE where they prepare non-Mexican students to study at Mexican universities. Likewise, the University of Guadalajara has a very good Spanish school.

Hi Maria, if your grandparents immigrated from Ireland, you could be eligible to get Irish citizenship. Something you may want to look into!

why? every white western nation has been under attack the past 18 months. I'm Canadian but sold my house and possessions to move to Mexico where you can still live as a free human being.

@@RedroomStudios it never hurts to have several passports. An Irish passport would allow her to easily travel and live within the EU, including Greece that she loves so much. Also switch a passport when crossing borders and facing different visa and/or covid rules.

@@RedroomStudios That's exactly what my husband and I are doing Jan 1. Moving from Vancouver, which is a Nazi state, to Mexico to travel the entire country. We'll probably end up in El Salvador because of, well..... Bitcoin of course. (Nayib Bukele works for the PEOPLE, where TURDeau serves his globalist bosses..😉)

Hi Rhonda! It was my dad's grandparents (my great grandparents) so I don't think it would be able to get citizenship. I still have not been to Ireland yet but it's definitely on my list of places to visit in Europe :)

Do one on one teaching where the teacher does not use a word of English - in other words if you don’t understand the teacher it is because they are not respecting your level or are just not very good. The idea too with one on one is that you do 50% of the talking. High school language classes involve 20 to 30 students with maybe one or two students participating and the teacher talking 95% of the time and if the teacher is really bad they will use a lot of English - I liken that to trying to learn tennis by watching a video. Also, do mini conversations with yourself when off on your own. I speak a few languages having in country experience and like William I am an extrovert! Anyway, you are definitely a fun couple who complement each other beautifully!

I lived in Ecuador, Guatemala, and three years in Nicaragua. It wasn't until my last year in Rivas, Rivas, Nicaragua that I learned the most-useful Spanish. The only Gringos that I had encountered were the occasional surfers who passed through town. I HAD to speak Spanish. I think it's the best way to learn, which I'm sure you've heard before.

I did the math. I was three years younger than you are now when I traveled around Mexico. That was in 1973. You can imagine how different it was way back then. 😎
