I loved how you've got this huge artist that's always glammed up suddenly "de-glammed" and waaaay out of her comfort zone. I think Mariah did an incredible job and definitely deserves recognition for the role but I also give her kudos for being willing to go on screen looking the way she did. @SativaSosa4 жыл бұрын
Jedi Wifey it has to do with how much money you make, but I think they ask about home life because it also depends on how you live, and if other people in the home are making less or more income than whoever is applying. It’s different because welfare offers different services so I guess it just depends

Though I've never seen the movie, this looks like an intake interview. The social worker (Mariah) is asking these questions to determine what kind of services precious would qualify for. There are a lot of non-profit groups that help out with things like domestic violence, housing, etc. that the department of social health services can recommend based on your needs. Depending on your situation, you can be approved for just food money (food stamps), a monthly cash stipend to pay bills, subsidized housing, childcare, and so on. There are even groups that can help with home repairs, paying your utility bills, or even fixing your car. Those services are very limited because of such a high demand for them in this country. Not everyone gets everything. In fact, you essentially have to be destitute to get any kind of help. You're also required to do a review every 6 months to prove whether or not you still need those services, except for housing, which I believe is once a year, or if your circumstances or income changes. Anyway sorry for the long post, it's a very complicated subject.
