She can sound good but it's just rare nowadays . She needs to stop for a long while and see if her voice can repair itself. Alot of what we are hearing is so harsh on the ears.

@ I don’t think so, 2016 was filled with rare attempts (My All E5s, Fantasy E5s, etc), and she sounded good the following years too. In 2022, she sounded bad and out of breath from the get go, she didn’t oversing prior to that since it was quarantine (where she sounded better). Having confidence ≠ overusing your voice. Saving your voice doesn’t require you to lip sync 95% of your concerts.

I'm so so sooooo happy we are getting live singing again, I was telling the lambs for ages we will get it again, we just have to be patient. What I like about Mariah's musicality is that she always finds out a way to adapt the songs to her condition without really loosing the main escense of it, im always a bit esceptical over how much a key should lower without loosing the song's core (for example, if she decides to lower Emotions even more). Yeah, you could argue that she's been using the same key for 25+ years, but it's the first time in a long time when she's not directly trying to emulate the studio version.

I think Emotions works well in the current key it's in, anything beyond that doesn't fit. VOL could actually sound good in Emotions' current key, VOL sounds good in a lot of keys actually. Make It Happen would be great in the Music Box tour key.

I dont think that there is a big oroblem with her voice, her tone is beautiful as always. But she is obviously with much less energy than years ago (she has right to be like this now, live is not slways easy). And she needs to be consistent for 20+ shows day after day. That is soooooo ahed for everybody and for a voice like hers. So we now she can sing her *ss off. I would love to hear live voice even if is nit perfect or like in the 90s only because is her voice and is her. But oeople in general, even fans are so harsh on her that she do this way, maybe to protect herself and her intrument. At the end if the day I understand her. And i totally admire her resiliency, her artistry , her determination and her values in a difficult very difficult (and mysogenist) industry.

I keep saying this but she needs to believe in herself a bit more. It's blatantly obvious she's still got it. Yes, age affects the voice so does overuse, certain drugs, alcohol, the environment etc. A lot of the criticism she receives I think is uncalled for, you can't expect her to sound 100% perfect all the time but I do get people's disappointment when she uses playback or prerecorded vocals. To me this probably says more about her insecurities and anxiety around her ability to sing to a high standard and meet people's expectations, so she feels the need to hide her "real" voice, maybe because she is conscious of the fact that her voice doesn't sound like it use to back in the day. I'm not saying that to discredit her capability but it's true there has been some loss of agility over the years, naturally so. I'd much rather hear her sing live, adapting her songs to suit her current vocal condition rather than hear her lip synching which doesn't reflect her authentic self, I don't care about impressing me with sustained belts or complicated riffs and runs, to me these are just ways to score extra points and validation. Her true fans would never judge, no matter what condition her vocals are in. I just wish she would have more confidence and drop that damn jazz album!

Unfortunately the parts shown here are almost all of the live singing, as most of the rest of the concert has been prerecorded. However, I went to a show earlier this year and I can say it is still a great concert and great production overall! Her Christmas concerts are often some of her best.
