Walter Afanasieff wrote everything else including the chords for the chorus, added drums, other production. etc. He also came up with the guitar sound. Walter also helped her write Hero, One Sweet Day, All I Want for Christmas, and many other of her hits until Mariah Carey got a divorce from Tommy Mottola. Her other famous hit, "Butterfly," was written entirely by Walter and Dan Shea except for lyrics.

Often times she does the words and the melody. Walter was responsible for the piano and chords, but Mariah always enlisted other producers (like Jermaine for example) to complete the actual beats for songs. Mariah came up with the idea for the guitar as well. This attempt to discredit her as a songwriter is misogynistic.
