Actually, in these programs, they force the singers (especially if they are foreigners) to lyp sync, because they want them to sound "perfect", and they want to make sure there's no anything wrong in the program. That sounds stupid, because the people tend to dislike these programs for the lyp sync, but it's like this. Idk why they do that, but anyways. Mariah Carey never lip sings, like Lady Gaga or Ariana Grande, but in these programs they always do because of the things that I explained before.

In the 90's there was a lot of heart & soul in all genres of music. The 90's vibe was completely different. Mariah, Celine, Whitney. Golden years of music. This was 1998, they thought everyone was dumb and could fool them with lip sync singing which worked for the most part of the 90s live shows but people slowly caught on when some artist had to perform choreography and they were still singing whilst doing the splits or whatever. This practice later changed because people were wising up and they couldn't pull the wool over our eyes anymore.

If I'm going to a concert to see a singer or band live play, I expect actual LIVE PLAY. I can listen to recordings ALL day in my home, and probably with a lot better equipment and sound for that then what comes out on a concert. Go see Adele, if she makes a mistake, she just will say "Oh, S&&*, wrong words", burst into laughter and continue singing the right song after it. I really can understand that a singer can't reliably do Mariah Carey's registers all the time. But that is just part of the live performances. Its also why I never went to her concerts back then, she always put on the tape instead of live singing.
