She’s playing it safe vocally a bit right now. Even though she sounds incredible, she’s not attempting as much as she probably could. I think it’s because of her new album coming up, she’s going to give it her all in it! Just like when she released Emancipation of Mimi, she sounded incredible but played it safe vocally and then Emancipation of Mimi ended up being one of her best albums vocally ever. From Circles to Fly like a Bird, she had so many vocally challenging songs in Emancipation of Mimi.

I agree! Seems like an approah she picked up to sing through the worsening of her nodules. It's a different condition from Leona's Autoimmune disease however both started using different approaches to deal with their conditions that are not the best for optimal singing but seems to lessen the pain while singing (at times they look like it hurts to sing).

Her supported low range is much smaller than that. She can consistently sing to an Eb3 but that's it. Even in rainbow, the lowest note she sung supported was a D3 (crybaby, and vision of love Chicago 2000).
