during her xmas concerts her voice was totally "in the throat" and she was attempting to sing the higher notes from chest, which is not only hard but also unhealthy. Now she's putting her voice in her front resonators and singing with a lot less effort than before, which is great.

I love her. I saw her in Vegas during her residency, before covid, and I have no regrets. But clearly we can just listen to the album at home. She’s a queen, but the voice ain’t voicing anymore.

@@nathanaelparker430 The delusion is outstanding 😂 If you knew anything about Mariah's current vocal conditon you would know this is pre-recorded at best, and at worst and almost certainly lip-synching. Look at her facial expression during the climax. As a musician/singer surley you should know delivering a vocal climax of this scale and difficulty and in this key requires significant effort. Effort which would be visible on one's face. Compare this performance to FLAB at the Grammys in 2005, at least there she tried to make it look as if she was singing live. She's either got some issues behind the scenes or she just doesn't care anymore.

She makes it look easy because she is literally singing 10% of the song and lipping the rest. No hate because these a new precorded vocals and they’re great and I understand her own insecurities with her voice so for her own comfort and peace of mind she lips. But for the whole concert, she may actually only sing about 15 minutes.

After 1997-98 she started recording music in the studio in a key that she wasn't capable of doing live. By this point her voice was damaged from nodules and overtouring in 1995-96. She's clearly used studio enhancement and pitched up certain notes/vocal runs to sound more impressive, particularly the climaxes. She obviously felt pressured back then to deliver perfection to the world even though her pipes were badly damaged. Many of her hits post 1999 are harder vocally than the songs she was singing in her prime but her voice was well beyond its prime by 99. So logically it stands to reason that some songs were not sung fully live in the studio without heavy enhancement and pitch adjustment. It's not coincidence she's never fully done many of her post 1997 climaxes live, such as FLAB. Is this deception on her part? Possibly. Or just the sad story of a woman who felt pressured and bullied by the world to be perfect at every turn.

Who asked her to be perfect? I never thought she sounded as good in concert as her studio records, but who does? Very few. She didn't have to record songs in a key she couldn't maintain. And she could easily have lowered those keys in concert. Barbra Streisand's voice was still strong and clear in her 50s. And Mariah never toured that much or did long tours. I'm so tired of all these explanations y'all come up with. Her voice has reached the point of no return and she has to deal with it honestly.

@@SomeGuy-mg5jy I actually agree to an extent. It's not an excuse as such, more so a genuine reason as to why she did what she did. The world has always demanded vocal perfection from Mariah because she set the bar so ridiculously high in the first place. She seems to be an insecure perfectionist, caring alot about how she is perceived. With all due respect to the great Barbara Streisand, Mariah's catalogue is far more demanding vocally, requiring more skill and natural ability. The main reason for the decline was nodules which sadly is outside her control. Mariah absolutely could have and should have made music post 1997 that fit her range and reduced ability at the time, but she probably wouldn't be the icon she is today had she done that, and probably nowhere near as wealthy. In those days big singing sold records. Singing insane high notes, belts, whistles and vocal runs etc had always been her thing - So when she realised the voice was shot in 97 she resorted to studio magic to maintain her brand and ultimately her career.

It's not that she doesn't want to be there. It's just that she has to be very relaxed to sing this song. Not just her throat but her whole body, to hit those notes. If you watch, at 1:30, she closes her eyes and relaxes her whole body for the climax of the song so she could reach those notes with a great and steady pitch. Very common in opera singers. I love this video and performance. She did great!

I LOVE Mariah but why can’t people ever critique their faves they aren’t perfect nobody is she is and will always be probably THE greatest voice in history in my opinion BUT she is stiff in her performances now and her voice has damage it’s not what it once was I’d love to see her come out on stage with some high wasted jeans a simple black t shirt her hair naturally curly simple make up and not try to whistle at all my unpopular opinion is whistle notes are overrated her natural deep singing and rich belting voice has always been my favorite parts of her songs I wish she would strip it all down and give us 90s it’s time for that era to make its way back anyways just my opinions 🤷🏻‍♂️ obviously she is the legend so she can do whatever she likes and that’s okay too

Sometimes I feel like she is just sad that she has to lip a lot of parts nowadays because of her nodules I know forsho that she can belt out notes like butter but her confidence/nodules won’t let her do it so feel the need to go record vocal tracks and use them on the show instead and honestly I think she hate that she have too considering the fact that she didn’t have to years ago I still love her and she is a true legend and if she need rest for a couple years she can do that she has nothing to prove anymore.

@@marcusvlin going by the setlist she’s aiming to please cause some of these songs she hasn’t done in a very long time. This is definitely a fan concert. She cares a lot more than some people think but she needs to care for herself more. She has worked herself to literal exhaustion back in her prime which eventually came to collect. She still sings miles around most but she could use some rest and maybe another rarities collection between rest would be a start. She’s working on a new album while also doing this concert run.

⁠@@marcusvlinshe should’ve of took a 3yr rest at least when Covid came that would’ve been the best time but she still wanted to sing and that’s something she love to do but sometimes you gotta take a break from something you love she can always come back and blow the roof top off, all the pre-recorded overly perfect vocals are not the best compared to how her raw voice sound, it sound rested and like the Mariah we know. Once again I will never stop looking up to Mariah shes part of the vocal trinity and I’m so glad we have her here to still be able to do her thing but taking a break wouldn’t be bad either we will support her either way❤#lamb

Love MC down!! But I only have one criticism for recent years (and these current shows). I need more energy. I don't know what MC is afraid of but she needs to stop letting insecurities get the best of her. What happened to all the energy from era such as Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow, TEOM etc??? Bring it back!! She doesn't need to do choreo but she can show more charisma, movement and emotion when singing in one spot. I don't give a damn if she lip sycs small sections of a song or whatever (the parts she actually sings sound much better - closer to caution era voice) ..all I want is more energy.

Right.. she acts like she’s scared to move. Back then she was much more energized and charismatic. In the Music Box tour home girl was all over the stage grooving and jamming with the crowd and like she was happy to be there. I get she was much much younger but you know.. she can be a little more lively nowadays

@@tonnymitch4016 Yes! She used to have so much energy. After the 2016 debacle I feel like Mariah became terrified of the stage and public opinion (subconsciously). It's crippling her performances. She has some energy but she could give a tad more. I remember after her first ever solo show during the Musicbox era, she got nailed by critics for lack of energy. After that she gave it her all moving forward. I wish that would happen again. Many attendees and critics are actually praising her new residency. Some videos show that the vibe seem to be much better if you actually attend compared to online clips. Either way.. I want it to translate online so that other lame fanbases can stfu.

Please note I'm not bashing mariah at all and I've seen live 3 times and love her music. I'm not sure because she hasn't toured in a while, something personal going on but some of the videos I've seen from her show last night and even the last Christmas show she seemed a bit drained. It's possible with other projects she could be tired. Again this is no disrespect to mariah or any fans just an observation

No other group do this is she lip syncing. We just enjoy it we know you can't do it all sometimes you need back up. Most all singer do it if it only for 30 minutes.
