My favorite year vocally is 1994. She’s less stressed in life. Also the vocals on merry Christmas are my favorite of any album for a plethora of reasons. Mainly love this era for the pitch perfect belts and the Beautiful mixture of MB era and DD era

It's so interesting to hear the audio from one era and see video from another like at 5:00. I didn't even realize that the audio had been switched to the 1999 performance until I heard Pavarotti, they were so similar! It makes you think about whether knowing the year of one of her performances influences how you as a listener hear it. Idk if I'm the only one or if this makes sense, but sometimes when I watch/hear performances and I know they are from post-1997, it's almost like part of me is already expecting her vocals to be so different and somehow not as good? And that even goes for periods like 2001-2 where she had consistently great vocals. It's almost as if knowing that a performance is from post-1997 makes you intentionally look out for imperfections in it, to compare it to 1990-96. I wonder if we have been so conditioned by the constant labelling of 90-96 as her "prime" that it influences how we engage with her performances, even as lambs. A lot of lambs deny it but I think most of us, even if it's somewhere deep down, deem 1997 as some hard cutoff separating the "prime" period of her "best vocals" from "everything else post-prime," which even if great, can never be the same as the "best" in our minds. And that obviously then affects how we listen to and judge her vocals from all of her different eras. But this video showed me that there are so many instances where performances from decades apart sound more similar than ones that occurred within months or days of eachother, even in the 1990-96 period. Separating lines between the "eras" of her voice is a lot murkier when you realize that. It's clearly not as linear as we often make it out to be; it's a lot more complicated than putting a one-size fits all label like "prime" or "post-prime." on her vocals. Obviously her tone and voice has changed over the years and in different circumstances (as anyone's would), but after this video I'm beginning to wonder if generalizing her voice into eras in the way that we do keeps us from appreciating her vocals as we should. Thanks for all the work you put into it!

Okayyyyy favourite years vocally are: 1992 - I love this year so much because its like the transition era between Debut/Emotions and Music Box, plus I'm part of that year so it's automatically one of her best years vocally💅🏼 (also grammys slayed too but not as much as me) 1998/1999 - I couldn't decide but I love her tone so much on Butterfly and #1s, also whistles in these years slayed so hard. But can we please talk about how late 1998 and 1999 are such underrated years??😫 Honourable Mentions: 1993, 1994, 1996 and 2002

Trueeee, also that Sondagstoppet sustained E5 is amazing, 1998/1999 is also really nice, but not in the 1992 way but in the Mariah is tired by mid 1998 so she has little fuel left for more demanding vocals and higher notes way, still the tone is amazing, sort of the transitional period between 1996 and 2001

My favorite years vocally: 2003: Every part of her voice was developed! She used every part! Upper belts, mid resonant belts, low note for daysss, whistles!! (The best in her career), and even head voice, which is rare but she used it operatically which was nice! 2001: Best Tone ever! Her upper belts were so warm, but so strong! Love how it’s the tone between rainbow and charmbracelet! It’s like in between and insanely Good! 1994: Where do I even start?! Her vocals were fire no cap! Vibrato from GOD! Mid belts were the most resonant they have been! Her consistency in this era overall was good! 1997/1998: TONE TONE TONEEE!!! Her tone was fire, personally I love the rasp on her belts, and honestly she still had belt range, but some people don’t think that… but hitting F5s on a lot of the nights, and hitting F#5s on patti labelles tribute, while sustaining a Eb5 in hero, is still insane, with the tone of raspyness! And AGILITY WAS CRAZY HERE! 2013: Agility from GOD! Her agility was so consistent! And personally I love her tone on some of her 2013 performances! 2015: JAMAICA WAS CRAZY!!! I mean her belts were resonant! Stage presence was chefs kiss! And her placement and attempted notes were great! We love 2015! 1993: RESONANCE UPSCALE!! She literally shakes cameras with how resonant her vibrato and mid belts were… the power of her voice in this era really shows that her voice is not just whistles all the time, but it is very much powerful! 1990/1991: Her struggle on her belts sometimes were pleasant to the ear to me! WHISTLES WHISTLES WHISTLES! Her whistles were strong this era…. This era she had so many High belts! There was literally and F#5 in every performance I’ve watched from this era! Personally all of her eras were best to me! But these few stand out to me! Honorable mention: 1999/2000, 2010

Just a random thought I just felt like if Mariah didn't proceeded to record Charmbracelet immediately after Glitter and just focus on resting her voice, she could've brought her Daydream tone and technique back because as you can see in all of her Glitter era performances, the technique and tone are quite similar with Daydream but just a little bit raspy still due to her not enough rest in order for her to fully regain her past tone and technique.
