You must react to the audio that leaked of her singing "Who's Loving You" with her background singers, just playing around...insane vocals! Her musicianship, sense of rhythm and melody are crazy.

90-92 Mariah has the best tone and the grittiest belts, 95-96 has the easiest and highest belts and best agility. 94 Mariah is the best combination of both.

Now there’s definitely better rehearsals from post 2000s that it could have been chosen on those compilations. Wish they could have added those.

Mariah from 90-93/4ish was LIMITLESS!!!!! There was NO avenue she couldn't (or didn't) walk through, HIGH-STEPPIN! The 🐐 SN: I haven't done any scaling but I'm willing to bet the key change "Yeahhhhh" in THERE'S GOT TO BE A WAY is her highest recorded belt.

Mariah’s prime was absolutely 1990-98. She had some good eras after that point mainly glitter 2001 and The emancipation era of 2005, however they never were greater than her 90s voice. I have had the opportunity to see her in concert in recent years and I wish I would have see her during her prime.

Her voice was healthier in 2001-2004 than in 1998-1999 though.

To answer your question, in my personal opinion Mariah’s voice in 1994 is better than in 1996. Mariah’s voice in 1994 was where her tone was a mixture of her natural richer tone from her Debut era with added nasality on the higher belts added since she started to sing nasal in 1994. Nasality is what gave off that girly tone. She continued the nasal singing since then on throughout her career. Since 1996 her nasal singing became more apparent in her mid range/belts. In 1996 she was able to belt more upper-belts with minimal tension consistently, but her voice in 1994 was more powerful, better controlled, and more balanced. In the Daydream era, she had more breath issues, pitch issues, her mid belts weren’t as weighty and powerful as they were in 1994, and her whistles during the Daydream era became more airier.
@strangerthings88 Жыл бұрын
Mariah literally never had a nasal sounding tone she just started using mixed voice a lot with a much lighter tone, probably to adjust to her growing nodules. There are a lot of nasal singers, but she is not one.
@debutriah2854 Жыл бұрын
@@strangerthings88 she definitely used nasality in 96 lol
@strangerthings88 Жыл бұрын
@@debutriah2854 she used a light mixed voice what sounds nasal to you in anything from 96. Arianna Grande is extremely nasal. Celine has been as well. Some people like that.

9:06 this clip was the “Christmas fail” clip the tmz leaked the isolated version of they was so messy she was sick but people took that clip and ran with it because they cut all the good parts and only left her stained belts and her stugged falsettos but if u watch the full thing its really not as bad as the edited version makes it sound especially for her to be sick and horse that night 😒
@MrMan-vn7rg11 ай бұрын
12:24 oh and this note sounds weird because mariah dosn’t use higher falsettos like that so it sounds awkward and pitchy but she decided to try something different

To be expected really - age happens and wear and tear is inevitable if you're going to make an album every year. Plus, MC's biggest hurdle is the fact she tries to keep up her work pace when more vocal work and maintenance is required as one gets older. She won't slow down and do it which would help her.

Her prime to me was in 94. I prefer 96 Mariah because of what she was capable of but there was serious damage to her voice by then. It just sounded nice
@krissy912811 ай бұрын
'96 Mariah didn't have "serious" damage. It was '97 Mariah that showed damage due to intense overworking with nodules on the cords. She basically just developed a rasp (satisfying rasp imo) and less ease to her upper chest in '97. By Glitter to Emancipation she had excellent days and she seemed much happier. Then even 2013 MC delivered solid/good vocals and great completely live performances. 23 years in and a lot of damage later.
