I know what you mean when you say "I love that note" particularly towards the end but it's actually funny and ironic because what note exactly? Lol. Dude, she actually hit like 30 to 40 notes in rapid succession, so fast in fact that you may have to play it in slow motion to even hear all of them because my brain couldn't even catch up with those series of runs. Lmao! This performance is actually like a MASTER CLASS of singing technique when it comes to MELISMA (or, in common parlance, running or riffing). But what is most remarkable is when she does it, it never feels too much because she has a great musical sense of what compliments the main melodic line without the main melody getting lost because she manages to bring it back home no matter how far her running takes her. Lol. And she learned all of that from listening to Stevie, whom she was honoring by showing him precisely how his student came out at the top of her class due to him. She uses her voice like a guitar or violin. In addition, she was also raised by her mother who was an opera singer. Melisma is actually an operatic technique that is mostly written for coloratura sopranos (as the descriptive word implies, they are good with adding a lot of color to their singing and melisma is one way to bring color to a song). It's also a great showcase of her sultry, low notes that female singers usually do not have except for Toni Braxton or jazz singer Cassandra Wilson and Aretha Franklin in her older years.
