Back then they made a huge deal about her being Artist Of The Decade. Fine. Whitney sold nearly 50 million records in the 80s with only 2 albums. That's only 5 years bcuz Whitney debut in 85. Now that's an impressive accomplishment.

Regardless of whether she said "mid '90" or mid-Nineties, in her defense, she started WAY sooner than other artists from her generation. 90-95% of singers don't sign a record contract at 18 and then have a major promotional debut album at 20. Most singers are lucky if they have a top ten hit by 25. Not twenty #1 singles and three # 1 albums.
