This, McKayla Maroney's Amanar in team finals at 2012, and Tomas Gonzalez's Tsuk double pike in men's vault finals in 2012 = perfect vaults that were robbed of a matching perfect score. Proof that perfection apparently no longer exists...

@AliciaDupres11 жыл бұрын
Nowadays there is no perfect vault or anything else in gymnastics. They always find something to deduct. For instance here the legs were not prefectly ''glued'' together on the landing. Yeah, this is stupid, I know, but this is how judges.. judge.
@josephqualtier961 Жыл бұрын
It’s not stupid it’s integrity, if someone can keep perfect form they should be rewarded, errors needed to be deducted equally.
@E_Love83 Жыл бұрын
problem is, our cultural history of 10's were full of slight hops and slides, even from nadia and marylou. and we all ignored that detail because of the virtuosity or amplitude of the gymnast performing. i "get" where ppl want to side with the discriminatory nature of the sport in moments like these, but imo it's those discriminatory choices from the judges that snuff out the soul of excellence that deserves to be celebrated in this sport. even in the open code, we still want to see 10's, and we all friggin deserve to still see them, even if it'll show up as a 16.5 or whatever the d will make it 🤪

@intldawn12 жыл бұрын
Points taken, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who does a double front or this vault with better form. I'm not sure I've ever seen someone point their toes in this. Certainly, I've never seen anyone keep their legs totally together, but I have seen guys do this with their legs spread far apart. Should those things you mentioned warrant slight deductions? Perhaps. Perhaps it wasn't empirically perfect, but it was the most perfect this vault has ever been done.
@intldawn12 жыл бұрын
Nah, don't think so. That would be a deduction if the vault were in piked or layout position, but since it's tucked, he wasn't expected to have his knees straight when he did the twist. If anything, I suppose, his toes weren't pointed. That's the very definition of nitpicking. Still worth a 10 in my book.

This seems a classic case of a gymnast having to perform a vault they almost never do in practice and only compete a few times per year. As superior as his technique and air sense were on his first vault, it was completely lacking on the second. Such a shame.

I am Spanish and the first jump is truly better than the 2 of Deferr, a pity that the last failure, at least think she deserved silver and no bronze but well... how nice is risk. If you had been born in another era, before 1992 surely I had done some 10 to another.

@Nocturnelle72 His landing wasn't deep at all. He landed with his chest up with normal knee bend, which is all the more impressive considering what he did in the air. If the judges didn't give that a 10, nothing was getting a 10 at these Olympics.
