God this series tore something out of me and built something in its place. I had a "where do we stand" friendship like this with someone who is/was near and dear to my heart despite it never developing into something more :( We connected like we had known each other our whole lives. He kind of even looked like Connel, and a couple of people have said that i look like Daisy Jones. (What are the chances lol) But, after high school ended, we would hit each other up on and off via text but neither of us ever committed to seeing the other person irl. He would write "i miss you's" and i would respond, but then he would go mia. Sometimes i did too. I think we were both scared. Now too much time has passed and my feelings have slipped away. But...i think deep down, he will always be my first love. :( Nobody comforted me, understood me, joked with me, looked at me, talked with me the same way that he did. We just clicked. Perhaps we weren't meant to be anything more than platonic, and that's okay

Been married 25 years and a few failed relationships before I can tell you and anyone who has been in a relationship can relate the those moments when you feel like a total stranger to that person laying next to you who you think is all you live for. She told him not to promise anything because she doesn’t want to impose waiting on each other. And if ever one of them does fall for another person, they wouldn’t hold the other accountable. You meet a lot of people in a year and could easily get to a hundred. Marianne didn’t follow him to New York because that’s HIS thing. SHE has her own thing and her own life. With regards to her family, there’s nothing wrong if she ever did stay for them. Whatever happens, that was her family and one way or another, she wants to fix that.

Am I crazy to think that it was not a sad ending? I love Marianne and Connel together, but we can’t say that they were the priorities of each other, or the biggest dreams, so I truly believe that it was a happy ending, because she got the normal life that she always dreamed of, and so did he, he never believed that he was good at anything and then he had a whole new world opening up for him at ny proving him wrong, they both finally found the value for their existence, and that was obviously outside of each other. And because of all of that I truly believe that they’ll find each other, they’ll never settle for anyone, what they feel for each other will never be only gratitude, it’s love, real love, normal love, love that normal people deserve, the love that stays, even though they grow as they go, their love stays.
