At the end we see how they have grown up generally as a person and how they have helped each other in there problem. spoiler: there relatioship is uncertain as connell leaves her for his career at the end

I just finished watching normal people and its so fitting to see this because of how i couldn’t stop thinking of this song watching their story… they really wanted to be each others so bad but was so blinded by their own issues they weren’t ready :< i wish they just talked :( I know most people hate the ending and wish they ended up together but i think the ending fit perfectly for the two of them. Choosing to venture out of each other and choosing healing. I also do believe that one day, after some growth they will eventually find each other again. As they always do. When they finally realize that they both would cancel plans incase the other one would call and that it will be easier for them to accept within themselves that meeting each other behind the mall is a reciprocated feeling between the two of them and hopefully one day it will be easier for the both of them to give love and most importantly, receive it 🫶🏽

I know I'm pretty late to this show, but it sort of feels like this show exposed a little tender and vulnerable place within people's hearts. One full of longing. A place must of us let grow distant and numb just in order to continue with our day to day lives. Because this sort of heightened emotionality demands to be nourished. I watched the show few days ago, and I get the feeling, that most people needed some time to move on from this story. As your life feels colder than it did before, but just because now you know what you've been missing this whole time. Also you kind of become worn out by longing for to long, but forgetting this feeling feels like an even bigger sin, so you stay in this weird stasis, without moving, but at the same time more hopeful than you ever felt before.
