I don´t really care about people that write that her voice is damaged. Yes her voice is very deep and hoarse at times, but I think that gives her some character, which I like. There is not a lot of old singers that sounds like their younger years and yes Marianne had addictions that made her voice change, but she is still here. That she managed to kick her addictions and get her life back together is something that she can be proud of.

You are so correct Jacob. I have followed her career from the beginning and she just gets better and better. Her voice is rough but so was Billie Holidays and both of them used their voices to express wisdom. Marianne is a magnificent artist and we are lucky to have her.

There’s so much passion in her lyrics . I love and appreciate her ravaged voice . Listening to her early recordings and then going to Negative Capability with a 50 + year gap Of time in between is so intense . I particularly enjoy hearing as tears go by , recorded at age 18, 41 & 72.
