I think Lex-o was actually betting for value on the river trying to get an 8 or K high to call. He figured an Ace would have bet either the turn or river. He was trying to make it look like a bluff with his river sizing. He also flipped over his cards confidently on the river like he thought he was good.

That sizing is a mistake though. You can bet pairs less than an A here, but for like a 2/3, 3/4 sizing. I think 1.5x pot using this sizing folds out most hands 99 beats

Well he he put him on 23 or jacks and talked himself into believing he had either thinking he was making an advanced lay down. Betting size was perfect on dans part and he called every street prior to the river which makes you believe he could’ve been trapping all along with the massive bet on the end. Just an amazing play. Mariano is still one of my favorite players it happens to the best obviously.

Pretty strange line by Dan, not sure what value takes that sizing. Vs a 4b by Mariano, I wonder if Dan plays his entire range as a call, or ever 5b here. If he plays entire range as a call, he still has AA/KK for value. But does AA 2x overbet river? If the 2x overbet sizing is just extremely strong hands, than he only has 2 combo A2s, 4 combo A4s, 3 combo JJ for value. It's a bit hard to find bluffs here though, maybe 67s or hand that like A3/A5 that have a pair and turn themselves into bluffs. I would think A2/A4 would start raising flop or turn though at some frequency to play for stacks by the river. Interesting hand, overbet feels really bluff. If Mariano is not going to have many better hands here to call with. A turn check is maybe better, this deep, out of position, against a skilled and aggressive opponent.

People usually don’t know how to adjust to players playing loose ranges. Just because they can have any two doesn’t mean they can always have value, it’s actually the exact opposite. Yes he has more deuces in his range than your normal opponent but that also means he has a ton of bluffs also like the random J4 Q4 K6 86 76 54 34 T4 ect ect. When he doesn’t raise flop on a super draw heavy board there are less sets in his range, any A 6 4 or club changes the board dynamic, a set on this flop in a 4B pot would want to raise almost always. Same with a turned duece, the board is too draw heavy to be slow playing A2 after u hit the turn when there are stacks to play for. The only value hand that plays this way is JJ, and thats 3 combos. With this draw heavy of a board I’m sure Dan has more bluffs than the 3 combo of jacks. He’s bluffing A5s that has show down value vs AK, I’m pretty sure he’s bluffing everything else like all the 67 68 96 k6 Q6 K4 44 J4 T4 that he gets here with also that has no showdown (he’s bluffing showdown!)

Not in large games. You want to keep your opponent's bluff in play. If you raise early then they fold and you get nothing. That's the difference between a noob and a high stakes player.
