How I love this woman! Truly the greatest of the Jungians who, while totally faithful to the Master, brought to his psychology and philosophy a brilliance and richness of her own that deserves deep and loving exploration in its own right. Thank you for posting this.

Thank God for MLvF, otherwise we would have precious little unadulturated Jung passed down to us.

Really focusing on her now after Robert Johnson, Hillman and various attempted reads of Jung himself. I really loved the archetypal tarot class I took emphasizing Jungian, Campbell, goddess perspectives.

My main question, when it comes to Jungian psychology, is this: If it's possible for a woman to be "animus possessed" (with all the negative connotations that entails), what is the evidence of a man being "anima possessed"? And what does this look like in anyone who does not identify as the gender they were assigned at birth? I think this aspect of Jungian thought is ripe for further examination and development. I think the whole anima/animus discussion is still in its infancy.
@g3nj12 жыл бұрын
The world is filled with men who have anima like never before. You see them every single day. It's the male femenists, cucks, "soy-boys", Mama's-boy, fathers of children who still let their wives wear the pants in the relationship, and any other man who isn't a real man. Perhaps when the anima and animus fully take over, that is where "transgender" people feel like they're the opposite sex. (This is extremely unhealthy and evidence they need psychological help) The discussion is not in it's infancy. It has been there for a long time, people just don't pay attention. You can't "re-discover" something that has been discovered.

just means theyre gay or lesbian lol
@InfiniT01712 жыл бұрын
@@PolumbiusTheThird not necessarily. A man who is anima possessed has not yet escaped from the arms of the mother; generally the devouring mother archetype. Some basic traits would be: easy to cry, too shy to stand their own ground, and in further inspection you can typically see the projection of the mother archetype in any woman who possess any range of traits as the mother archetype. To confine anima and animus functions to personal sexual orientation is to miss the deeper function that is being described in Jungian psychology.

Marie Louise Von Franz' address seems somewhat erratic, subject to the social conditions of her time, but fascinating nonetheless.

I don't think many of us can escape the spirit of our age hey... :) We'll get there, I'm sure given what's going on in the world currently (And she is pretty spot on with the predictions) you'll get very similar... tinting. Many nowadays would say men are too feminine and women too masculine. We're not great at mixing things really are we..the tendency seems to be for people to just paint over one thing with another. (Including me I'd imagine, not that I have a clue about anything)

I think this is false, she had an position to be still aware of the postmodern view on gender.
