The biggest surprise to me about the Land Ship is that sustained fire damage. Except for charges it doesn't chunk your health. Instead it just doesn't stop dealing damage regardless of the range. That is a special kind of scary. Big chucking damage or lots of flying models gets your attention, so I won't be surprised if people frequently under estimate the Land Ship as a threat in prolonged battles like this compared to most center piece units

I was surprised by the ammo amount. By the end, even after constantly shooting, it still had a third of its ammo. Unless the engineer was constantly re-stocking his ammo, this seems pretty stronk

I love the landship, it is so ridiculous, it straight up drove over those cavalry like a normal chariot does to infantry. The perfect combination of a Steamtank and a war wagon. I kinda would have liked a 'mechanical' classification for certain units that makes them immune to healing magic but targetable with special engineer skills. Not just for Empire but also all other factions with mechanical units and engineer heroes like Dawi and Skaven.

If I had to guess, the Khorn dlc will be with either Norsca, or Ogres. If one is Norsca the change could come with a rework. But unless Thrones of Decay does really well,(enough for them to feel good about doing a trifecta again), we might have to sacrifice one of the bois :'c

Funnily enough that's actually very tabletop accurate. The best way to beat a steam tank on the tabletop is to bog it down with chaff. Because it just Struggled chewing though them.

I think it was frostbitten, slowed, and getting beat down by Throgg most of the battle. you'd have to point out some time stamps where it tries to push through infantry and fails to do so without being frostbitten. I'm pretty sure the new Steam Tank doesnt have much issue pushing through standard foot troops

I know they don’t really need it, but I kinda wish that a few of the game 1 factions got combat passives like other races. I think the empire,dwarfs,VC and maybe even the beastmen and wood elves could all do with even a minor battle passive. There the only factions without one really even if they were extremely minor, it just adds that little bit of diversity. Like if dwarfs had MD buffs when being charged, or if the vampire counts units could lower healing caps when attacking enemies, almost like there sucking/gouging the very vitality from you, or another cool one would be if the wood elves had a sort of debuf for units that fight them in the Forrest I know it’s niche and won’t se a lot of play but it’s just for flavour. I have no idea what you could do with the empire there’s just so much that they “could” have, I know these factions don’t need it but just that but if extra variety helps yano.

I actually think the land ship will be one of the rare SE’s that’s going to be good in MP but bad in campaign. It doesn’t seem to have a ton of burst damage, relying on its low damage repeaters and infinite ammo on them with a lot of micro to slowly wear down the army while being hard to kill. Since you can only afford one in MP, seems perfect. The rest of your army will be mostly dead anyway, you can afford to inflict army losses slowly at that point. Not the same in campaign, where you’re killing the enemy army as fast as possible before it can kill off your units and you’re stuck for multiple turns recouping and losing momentum. It was only at 48 kills 4-5 mins into the battle, and the repeaters were targeting the metal wizard for a while and barely doing much damage. I could be wrong though, this is a small sample size and I might not be understanding all the weapon platforms it has, definitely a unique unit we haven’t seen before!

I kind of disagree with the idea of KotBS being hard-counters to Skin-Wolves. Yeah they have flaming damage, but they lack magic attacks so a Skin Wolf's physical resist would more or less counter their flame weakness. Admittedly that low armor value would mean that fairly large charge bonus would do a number, but as the video showed, that's only if they get the charge.

@@predwin1998 Nop, it was invented at Nuln, "obliggatory 🤓". Marienburg lacked a strong military, so they commissioned The Gunnery School of Nuln to make Something like a Steamtank. Years passed, and altough they were paid well, they weren't getting results, creating something like a Steamtank was impposible. Then one crazy engineer thought: "If we can't make a machine this size work, then why not just make a bigger one!" "we could build it in the shape of a boat to appeal to their excesive love for vanity!". Then the day came for showing the results, in truth, the machine barely worked, and even a strong gust of wind could have broke it, lucky for them it worked! The burgomaisters loved it, and unlucky for them, asked to have built a dozen of them xD When Tamur'kan was about attack Nuln, the 3 first Land ships were about to be delivered to Marienburg, instead, the elector countess of Nuln asked to use them for the imcomimg fight, and Marienburg accepted, for a hefty price of course.

Also, I’m really surprised they never added the elector count state troops into multiplayer especially if they reworked the Emperor’s wrath I really want to see how well that would actually do outside of the campaign. And there are other units I would like to see too and would certainly help the empire in multiplayer massively as well as there are either improved versions of existing units or in some cases like the stubborn bulls new units themselves.

Maybe they've put a lot of weight into the lower departments of the ship to give it a lower center point of mass, making it less prone to tip over. But either way, it's meant to look a bit silly, first and foremost.

The Landship crew having repeater handguns feels like a weird setup. Narratively the gun doesn't play to its strength in this setup, where you might as well have racks of traditional handguns available.

Doesn't make much sense lore wise. The land ships are commissioned by marienburg, the independent merchant Lords city, and made by basically a group of breakaway Nuln Engineers for money to counter the Empire's use of steam tanks in defence of the city. Empire engineers refused to work on them so they are very crude and unstable and definitely not befitting of empire engineers & masters.

I am getting the 3. I boycotted SoC because of the bad practices they did, and the general lackluster update it came with it, and now I fell obligated to support this great change they are doing. Just like there was punishment, there should also be a reward. Proof that we wont only ask for change, but support it. Even if I wasn't buying the trifecta, the only faction I wouldn't have brought was Nurgle because of his state before the rework, he didnt look fun. But now? After the rework? might as well buy it and give papa Nurgle a chance!
