I'm 54 and have developed non-diabetic related peripheral neuropathy in my feet over the last 5 years which I would describe as moderate to moderately severe. I have gone through all of the "standard" treatments along with numerous homeopathic treatments, with some of these various treatments having side effects I wouldn't wish on anyone. Once Oklahoma legalized medicinal marijuana, I got my card and ventured into edibles, tinctures and finally flower. I can take one bong hit and within literally seconds, the pain is not gone but dialed down to such an extent that I can almost imagine it's not there. It will never cure the numbness caused by the nerve damage but having even a few hours of relief and feeling normal has so greatly improved my quality of life. I continue to experiment with different strains and methods of intake as I am working to get off Gabapentin which I take during the day when working. So thankful for all of the research that continues to happen.

" I can take one bong hit and within literally seconds, the pain is not gone but dialed down to such an extent that I can almost imagine it's not there." Describes it perfectly. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia and i mainly only use Cananbis as medicine. Im happy you stated and feel its important for people that don't have nerve damage to rather think "It doesn't remove any pain, but makes it way more dull, to the level, where you can zone it out easily." rather than some snake oil that removes pain that morphine has a hard time raffecting. It works in different ways. In my experience The medical dose for morphine to be effective as a longterm solution you often exceed the baseline dose for recreational use, ending up in this zombie like morphine high trying to espace pain, but each pill just amplifies the high further but barely touches the pain after a certain threshold is reached. With cannabis you realize you arent going to "escape the pain" but rather it "dulls it out and puts it on the back burner" so the pain isn't constantly on your mind + medical doses are lower than recreational, so on good days you get to live life and enjoy your day, and on bad days you might end up somewhat high but atleast the pain is finally bearable, instead of good days with morphine you are somewhat pain free but lets face it, you feel this looming zombie high underneath, and bad days on morphine, where you literally are blacking out whole days in a medical coma. Sorry the wall of text, your message just got me thinking.

The explanation at 27:00 really helps me contexualise my eperience. I just tried smoking for the first time in my life and I have chronic pain from carpel tunnel in both hands. What happened wasn’t exactly that I was cured, i could tell the feeling that is normally pain and discomfront was flaring up, but it felt completely reinterpreted or “flipped”. the pain was actually changed to being comforting and pleasant. Really helpful stuff!

@@jamesjirik2245 I just smoke flower ! I use a bubbler (essentially a tiny bong) to make the smoke less harsh. Look for thc percentage 15% or lower and a good amount of cbd. Indicas are supposed to be more in the body than a head high like sativa. That’s all I look for in a pain relieving strain ! Rn I found a 7% thc and 5% cbd, great balance for chronic pain ! A lot of weed shops sell on super high thc strains but those just get me to high to do anything : p so again ask for 15 or lower. Good luck !!!

I've been a recreational user since I was 16. I'm 40 now. I usually smoke about once per week on average. Almost always at night. This week I started using it for c7 disc herniation pain and inflammation. I'm ASTOUNDED at how well it works within just 15 minutes. I've been living on flexeril (muscle relaxer) and norcos for a week and I dont want to go down that road. I'm getting a steroid injection soon but in the meantime, no more prescription drugs for me. It really is amazing what marijuana is capable of.

I have chronic pain from lower spine disc hernination and degenerative disc in my neck and I've been on alot of medication such as mydocalm, Celebrex, arcoxia and a few more meds with no help at all...I'm thinking of trying marijuana but years ago I tired it and had hallucinations and felt dizzy so I'm scared.

@@amandasammy8015 If you have an anti anxiety med like Ativan or xanax maybe take a half the first few x you smoke. But I think most people overdo it and smoke too much. To this day if i get a super strong strain and smoke too much it can cause paranoia but just take 1 puff and wait 15 min. If you cant tell a difference, take only 1 more. Itll def be as strong as its gonna be 30 min after the second puff.

@@amandasammy8015 ps, I never drink when smoking. It's not usually a great combo... nauseated if u drink then smoke but if you must drink, smoke then drink. Idk what the difference is but it's a well known rule of thumb in the marijuana community.

Canada, if you haven't already, learn from us Americans please, and get your priorities straight. Go to cannabis first and skip the opioids, save them as an absolute last resort for pain management. I know the long stigmatized history with the plant but in the end with the risk, reward of cannabis vs opioids... There is no reason why you shouldn't be trying patients to see if cannabis works first before opioids. Cannabis helped me make a complete full recovery from a stroke at 24 where I had paralysis on my left side, a speech impediment, became emotionally impaired and was essentially trapped in my head for 3 years. Anyone who says there's no proof it helps people just is using wishful thinking at that point when there are people like me out there sharing our stories. Another one for you, a member of the show Bong Appétit who has ALS, the progress of her condition slowed down incredibly after she stated ingesting cannabis after she was diagnosed vs people who were diagnosed at the sane time around the same progress of condition. They ended up a lot worse than her in the end not ingesting cannabis.

I walk the Earth and have been for many years in the most insane back pain. I just live with it and it does kind of control my attitude. When it doesn’t hurt or it’s not strained my life feels like there’s a burden lifted off of me, because there actually is, my life is way better. I’m less angry, but I cannot be stoned maybe once in a blue moon. There’s no cure for my pains 😂

I hope someone can help answer this. None of my doctors give a damn and Ive been struggling since not being able to ingest or smoke THC. Ever since I started driving long hours last year, I began having pain in my trigger points, causing burning/tingling from shoulders, neck to hands. Taking THC either triggers the pain or makes the pain 100x worse. Only in my arms/hands. Would an MRI/CT scan help diagnose my issue, like nerve compression by muscles/knots? I dont get how THC works fine for yrs then suddenly causes my pain in one area one day
@maryanntampourlos9908
@maryanntampourlos9908 Жыл бұрын
Yes a MRI /CT would probably give you an idea of what’s causing your tingling, neck issues & pain. Could be a pinched nerve that will eventually ease with time however possible something more serious. My Ex picked up an engine head & turned his head quickly to look at a loud car passing him. Pinched large muscle across his chest; dropped him to floor could not stand nor lift head high & cut lung capacity in half. After 24 hrs agreed to see Chiropractor (No Dr) Thankfully he was okay after a bunch of Adjustments but it could’ve been very serious if it’d been worse because in those days (40 yrs ago) was before they had abilities to see soft tissue injuries. definitely see a Dr first; if your tests are clear Dr might send you to chiropractor. The X-rays/MRI/CT can give a lot of information these days. I have a lot of. slipped discs in my neck & lower back (sciatica) both cause severe pain, tingling, numbness. My issues were caused from long term desk jobs/retail work carrying heavy boxes & long hours on feet on cement floors. My weight gains/loss many times throughout my life didn’t help either. As for all of sudden having back reactions to weed, our bodies can suddenly become allergic to anything which doesn’t always act like a normal allergy. You could be allergic the product that’s fertilized the weed. An organically grown strain might work.

I have had neuropathy for over 20 years. I've tried all the usual suspects (Gabapentin, etc.). I have been using cannabis and it really does work. It reduces the overall pain in my body well and although I still have tingling in my feet, it doesn't bother me as much. My issue is that I have almost 40 years of being sober and I struggle with the addiction component of using this drug. I will say that the cannabis that I've been able to procure (both in legal states and non legal) has been high in THC. I am really trying to find how to get products like Ripple Relief with has .5 mg of THC which is low or perhaps, and even lower THC/ high CBD product.

Charlotte's Web CBD oil is legal to ship from Colorado because it is derived from hemp plants and has extremely low levels of THC. You can also fly legally with their products and travel through states that have not legalized cannabis. Non-psychoactive & very high quality, their products have been used medicinally for years to treat pediatric epilepsy and other conditions.

38 years sober her as well. I developed sacriolitis (hyper mobile SI joint) after years of walking concrete floors in an automotive supplier Supervision position. I did loads of lifting, pushing, pulling, and relief work on the lines. On top of it all I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1986. The pain and neuropathy were severe. Sharp, burning, tingling from my SI joint to my foot. After seeing a pain doctor I got a spinal cord stimulator which helped take the edge off, but with my fibro it could get too intense. In conjunction, I was on a variety of opioids for about 6 years including Fentynal..I NEVER once was tempted to overdo, I wanted pain relief. A year ago in September I developed rotator cuff tendinitis and had some minor tears. (No surgery thank goodness) Couldn't raise my arm over my head.. The opioid I was on wasn't touching the pain. The greatest relief I get is from quarterly steroid injections.. I told my pain doc I wanted off of the morphine (lowest possible dose). He instructed me how to wean off, no withdrawal! The hardest thing beside pain though was sleep. He suggested a couple of indica gummies at bed time. I take one or two now about an hour before bedtime, and am sleeping better than ever, my knees don't hurt going up and down stairs, and my fibro is more tolerable. I have to say I also had concerns about going California sober...but after looking at the opiooids I had been on, and never misusing them, along with my doctors consultation I made a conscious decision to go for it. I'm 67, and have lived with pain since 1986...I can't tell you what to do, each must decide for themselves. I will say to anyone who judges me for this needs to walk a mile in my shoes. I truly wish you all the best in your journey.

Possibly starting 20:1CBD therapy soon, praying about it. 40 years sober now. I was a MMP from 2010 to 2018 it was miraculous the changes, I lost 75 lbs and could work circles around people much younger than myself. However it messed with my memory and if I was without I was an a-hole agitated and short fused... Eventually I burned out my Anandamide pathway network leaving me with acute depression and severe long lasting withdrawal symptoms like boredom confusion insomnia agitation inability to concentrate giving me temporary severe adhd symptoms... My now ex wife divorced me because I was medicating with cannabis and she didn't like the faded me even though my life was mostly pleasant she resented all of it and grew out of love. Cannabis ruined my life, I'm 5 years free now, I have bouts of depression and use no substances whatsoever, I even shy away from chocolate. I have neuromas both feet, life on my feet, and my back is trick. I dont want to become dependent on anything. Im wary of CBD only because if I have to go without what will the side affects/withdrawal be? Good luck. It works well until it does not. The lack of Joy without it really really sux (Anandamide is the 'JOY' neurotransmitter) Lack of joy is a hellish painful place. This is my personal experience. It might work differently with others. God bless and aloha
