Best Wishes from Germany ❤❤❤

Was listening to Script FAJT in the car the other day and thought that maybe Garden Party is pre-1989 Marillion's signature song, combining several of the band's musical themes of that era. But, just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, everyone will have their own idea for Marillion's quintessential song and I don't expect anyone to agree. Anyway, this might be their most theatrical, energetic video, thank you for showing.

A song with a long Marillion history. In the video also Andy Ward ex- #Camel drummer can be seen. Andy was the Marillion drummer from May to August 1983 after original drummer and Co-Marillion founder Mick Pointer had to leave. The song dates back to March 1981, Fish's lyrics to December 1980. A musically different version with the lyrics sung by Fish and bass played by Diz Minnitt was on the audition tape the both sent to Marillion. They joined Marillion at the beginning of January 1981. Brian Jelleyman who was the keyboardist before Mark Kelly and since October 1979 in the band had the idea for the piano intro of the original version of the song.

Marillion made (and still make) the best music, but the worst videos (although at least this had a bit of comedy in it). The Diana lookalike is welcome too.

The Fish era was like an aggressive Genesis clone. Hogarth made Marillion an original and powerful band, giving Marillion character and soul.

@glennthompson1173 agree, I think the hogarth ledcmarillion released bad singles like "hooks in you," one of the poppiest songs, which felt less progressive. but so many good songs on that album and follow-ups. melodic, but inventive. grew on me.

Forgotten how awful Fish's girlie vocals were back then, thank goodness they got a decent singer, bloody terrible before Steve joined.

@@stuartwaby3081 Marillion was done and over with as a seriously great band the minute Hogarth took over. As soon as I heard the lame strains of Hooks In You, it was obvious.

@@hammill444 Well, you obviously don't understand that the Music 🎶 was composed and performed by Steve Rothery, Pete, Mark and Ian! They needed a vocalist who could perform the Music they composed, SH clearly can whereas Fish retired as a sad old fat man! Look at the facts my friend!!!
