I had no idea he did a cover of this song. I'm a Manson fan from way back but have kind of lost touch with his music as of late. This happens to be one of my all time favorite Bowie songs. Manson did a good job.
@squidcat118 жыл бұрын
I wonder what Bowie thought of this version. I bet he approved. It's solid as can be. When I heard this on the radio ONCE (of course), and only ONE TIME, I tried everything possible to find what album, what movie "soundtrack", or special release on another artist's label but NOTHING. I wanted to BUY this DAMN SONG but, I guess by 1998(?) the old custom of having some Item PRODUCED andor PUBLISHED so other people could actually BUY the ITEM, was suddenly out of style. Especially, if it was a particularly WELL DONE and UNIQUE little gem then, well, forget about it pal, NO SOUP!
@danieldv61718 жыл бұрын
I think I remember that song was on one of the singles of MECHANICAL ANIMALS. I think it was on the single of "rock is dead". But yes, it is a cool cover, as most of Manson's covers. I have to admit, that for the last couple of years I lost him out of sight, but in the years from "Antichrist" to (including) "Holy Wood" he was one of my biggest musical heros.
@magnuskallas6 жыл бұрын
I had Mechanical Animals cassette before I went Ziggy Stardust crazy. Connection there. And I never even heard this cover. It's bumpy here and there, but great anyway. Bowie definitely approved, would fit into Earthling etc. era.

Man, I'd forgotten about this song until last night. I was a huge Manson fan in the 90s and spent most of my rare internet time finding every song of theirs I could, then either downloading them on ye old Napster or buying the tape/CD if possible. I just recently fell back in love after a random YT recommendation for one of his newer songs. My boyfriend (who is NOT a fan) and I were talking about MM last night and I said "Manson does some awesome covers!" He said "I'll give you that. That cover of Golden Years was great." I was like, holy hell, I forgot that song even existed. I ran to the computer to find it and... wow. Just as amazing as it was almost 20 years ago.
