You've picked a wild time to examine Marilyn Manson! This song represents a comeback after being "cancelled" by his record label because several relatively recent ex-girlfriends publicly accused him of abuse. The accusations are spearheaded by one, Evan Rachel Wood, who convinced others to join her afterwards. But the accusations are murky and disputed. The courts still don't think there's enough evidence to charge him with anything, and one of the accusers has since retracted her accusations and admitted she made them up after being coerced by the first one. And the first one claims she forgot about the abuse for ten years and then recovered the memories under hypnotherapy, which is a discredited technique. And Wood's accusations seem to be driven by her new partner Illma Gore who just happens to run an anti-abuse charity. So Manson has said the allegations are a hoax from Gore, and she pretended to be an FBI agent and hacked him and swatted him and all this sort of thing.

Evan Wood was just trying to metoo and get money. The entire metoo era put a major damper on thr dsting marketplace. Never before in human recorded histiry has there been more single people. Less married people. And men not approaching women for fear of being accused of something. A mans life can be ruined quite easily. Add to that the divorce court and child court system that is aimed in favor of women and you have the perfect cocktail for men to want to choose to be single. Oh yeah, one more aspect i forgot. Feminism and women in general, being more masculine today. Most men prefer a more modest traditional woman.

I'm assuming this is about the so-called accusations that really messed up his musical livelihood and were baseless. This makes so much sense. He's off drugs, he's gotten into fitness and weight lifting, and man does it show! WOW! It reminds me of APC's Judith, who have the same vibe. 100 percent ace, wonderful job! Just wow, more than bounced back. He's dare I say risen above the hate, and now is drugfree to be who he is. YES! I'm here for it.

To answer a few of your questions: This song is most definitely a response to Evan Rachel Wood, to understand the references go check out the Colonel Kurtz youtube channel for all the details. Band members have changed many times over, this is probably the best line up in years. Tyler Bates on guitar is responsible for many famous movie soundtracks, Reba also on guitar is from Code Orange another great band. Bassist is ex Rob Zombie, and the drummer Gil is a great drummer. His discography is vast and diverse. Over 340 tracks. But if I were to suggest just one I'd say look up "Down in the Park". It is a cover, but a great rendition. I've also created a playlist of nearly his complete discography unfortunately some of the more obscure stuff I had to upload myself and is private but majority is public: kzbin.info/aero/PLKA4S6FZTQA-I9wQgwRo-AurPnLdLfNwf -- for anyone who wants to listen to it all "in order".

He has abuse allegations, a lot of them are still in the process of court proceedings. My position on it as of now, is I’m just waiting how it all unfolds. If he’s guilty, he’s guilty, if it’s not as simple as that then it’ll unfold as such. Time only will tell. As for this song itself he said to a fan at one of his recent shows that the song is about “The World” rather than a specific person. It’s definitely wrapped around his recent struggles, but Manson in general likes to talk about subjects in a more abstract way. At least on the albums I have listened, can’t speak for this new record since the songs are still dropping so maybe he’ll more aggro towards a specific person, idk. Either way it’s cool to see people who haven’t listened to his music. Also, the whole “is it a man or woman” is actually on purpose haha, he wanted to present gender as fluid so he’s always played with gender roles. Future songs you could check out, Man That You Fear, Great Big White World, Target Audience, and Saturnalia. ❤
@nikkireviews
@nikkireviews 19 күн бұрын
Thank you for the suggestions! And yeah, I agree - I always like to see how allegations unfold before even speaking on it too much. 🤐 That's interesting about the gender aspect - I wasn't sure if he was trying to make a statement or if that was just him back in the day but it makes more sense to me as an adult at least lol.

I believe the Dope Show song you were referring to was during an androgynous phase in his music, David Bowie did the same...there's a few Manson songs I like, the old favorites like Beautiful People or Tourniquet, he also did a few decent covers as well, like Soft Cell's Tainted Love or Eurythmics Sweet Dreams...the early band lineup all took their stage names combining serial killers and supermodels, "Marilyn Manson " "Twiggy Ramirez" and so on...

I like this song a lot, but I do think the last one he put out a few weeks ago, “As Sick As the Secrets Within” is even better, and sounds a lot more like his older music, which is considered the peak of his output. The video for that song is also really artistic and creative, and contains a ton of references to his past. As for other songs to check out that are really good, I would definitely say to check out Dope Show again, but the official music video. Also Coma White, The Beautiful People, Tainted Love, Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), and Tourniquet. Those are some of his best and some of the most popular songs from his early days.

Marilyn Manson's best records were in his first decade... This song seems like a return to form. He was first signed by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and they collaborated on his first 2 albums before their relationship soured. His debut album 'Portrait of an American family' in 1994 was a shot in the arm of the 90's grunge/ alternative rock scene (Sadly, both his guitarist Daisy Berkowitz and bassist Gidget Gein have passed away)... His 1995 cover of Eurythmics "Sweet dreams" became his first major MTV hit w/ a very visually disturbing video. His second album 'Antichrist Superstar' ... truly riled up the Christian community and it was a brilliant and dark industrial rock album w/ a solid band that featured Twiggy Ramirez (bass), Madonna Wayne Gacy (keyboard/ samples) and Ginger Fish (drums) ... Daisy Berkowitz contributed guitar but was fired before the album's release. "Mechanical Animals"- his 3rd album reached #1 on the US charts... the cover was rather disturbing w/ Manson wearing a female body suit. He hired guitarist John 5 and that was Marilyn Manson's best line-up. 4th album 'Holy Wood' was the final sequel to 'Antichrist Superstar'... in 2000 and it was an incredible record. John 5 truly established himself as a guitarist w/ that record... Tim Skold (bass) replaced Twiggy Ramirez and the next album 'The golden age of grotesque' was another stellar album in 2003... #1 on the US charts again. Marilyn Manson made the poor decision to fire guitarist John 5 in 2004... John 5 had worked w/ David Lee Roth (Van Halen) and Rob Halford (Judas Priest) and he soon joined Rob Zombie's band... and also established himself as a solo artist - John 5 and the Creatures... John 5 recently left Rob Zombie's band to join Motley Crue on guitar, replacing original guitarist Mick Mars. Marilyn Manson's later records did not have the appeal of his first 5 albums... 'Eat me drink me' in 2007 was a rather dark record inspired by now ex-gf Evan Rachel Wood, who has accused him of sexual misconduct (Evan Rachel Wood has had her own problems in her personal life) However, Marilyn Manson records have made the top 10 charts consistently since '07.

You’re going to get a lot of different answers about the results of the accusation. The reality is that no, he hasn’t been convicted of anything, and he denies that the accusations are true. The primary accuser is considered to be Evan Rachel Wood, and since the 2021 accusations it’s been discovered that she and a girlfriend forged a letter from the FBI, that she used as a way to try to move her son out of state from his father… and that forged FBI letter claimed that she and her son were in danger because of Marilyn Manson (in different wording that I cannot recall perfectly right now, but this entire thing is available to read online and it’s pretty mind bending). He currently has a lawsuit against her, and her girlfriend. But when it comes to the abuse allegations, none of it has ever been substantiated, and they primarily amount to social media stories posted in February of 2021. One of the accusers recanted, and said that Evan Rachel Wood and her girlfriend put pressure on her to lie and make an accusation against Marilyn Manson. The controversy there is that people want him to be ostracized for doing things that may not be able to be penalized by law. They want the audience to act as judge and jury, to persecute him on behalf of the accusers, and to thus render his career over. So far that hasn’t successfully happened. I’m a huge fan of Marilyn Manson. I am also a firm believer in innocent until proven guilty.

I agree with you. I don't like to take these kind of subjects lightly but in these kind of situations (especially with celebrities) I've seen it go both ways, where the accusations are true but then there are times people just make stuff up to benefit themselves or try to take someone down that they just have other disagreements with. Again, not to downplay anything someone may have experienced. We just simply don't know what the truth is. 🤷🏻‍♀

Best track I've heard from him in a while, may have to check out this album. Manson is a lot like slipknot in that I generally skip the videos, but love their music. Mansons prime was his first albums through Golden age of Grotesque, you can't go wrong by picking a track from those. If your feeling brave, may I recommend "Irresponsible Hate Anthem", that might give you some context on people's perception around him... He loves to remark on culture and point out hypocrisy as bluntly and vulgar as he possibly can.

I kind of felt that this song sounded a bit generic (music wise). I'm not much of a fan of him personally, but I loved his earlier music. It wasn't until later that I kind of faded from it. Some of the music from the beginning that I liked were his songs: I Put a Spell on You, Beautiful People, Dope Show, and I Don't Like The Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me). "This is the New Shit" is a pretty good song too. You really should check out his earlier songs because they are surprisingly different than this one. They are more creative, in my opinion. I should mention that his music along with bands like Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Celldweller, Orgy, Fear Factory, Stabbing Westward, and KMFDM are bands that some people call "Industrial Metal." I'm not sure how exactly to describe it but it's very loud and hard-hitting music. I LOVE Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. By the way, I've always thought someone should try and do a metal version of "MmmBop" lol
