This whole album is like a microcosm of 80’s style, it pretty much covers a different genre with every song. Also, Marilyn Martin had the absolute sexiest voice ever.

I remember as a kid always seeing Marilyn Martin in random videos doing backup vocals for various artists and then of course the big song with Phil Collins. I had always thought ahe had the most beautiful face and even now she is still more beautiful than most women half her age.

I knew her back when she sang with a group named Mercedes in Akron,Ohio. We went to an New Years party they were at and she sang Open Arms for my Wife and I. I knew then she was going to be famous.

I can't tell the difference between her and Pat Benetar here. It sounds like a Benetar track. And she sounds just like her.

And that’s exactly why she didn’t have a bigger career. Such a shame. She was amazing. One of the best vocalists ever.

She used to be the backup singer for Stevie Nicks. Stevie did backup for her version of Sorcerer. And Marlin Martin did backup for Stevie's verison.

Maybe because it's Tim Pierce behind the guitar. The studio maestro himself.

@@scandmaster Michael Byron-Hehir played the guitar on this. He was Corey Harts guitar player in the 80's. Google him.

Marilyn Martin with a strong vocal range similar to Terri Nunn (Berlin), where curiously, both singers have a certain physical appearance (stature, pretty doll face, sexiness) as well as the quality of vocal interpretation, in terms of volume and vibrato of their voices. Also, other similar artists as Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks, Patty Smyth (Scandal), Martha Davis (The Motels). Definitely, Marilyn Martin a classy artist, with scenic presence and captivating image, whose level of interpretation transmits emotion in every note she sings. Her image and unique style from a golden age (80's), full of true talent & mysticism!

@Marty McFly II That is great! Well, we were lucky! I have also her debut album but on vinyl! Great album! We agree, a singer with a talent who was not given the greatest exposure and credit, but we are fortunate to know and listen to her music! songs with meaning that brings us great memories of a wonderful time and full of great artists!

I was curious what happened to her after separate lives. I read she got dropped from her contract right after this album and I guess I'm not surprised after hearing it. Canned heat, a dime a dozen stock 80's pop song. It's a shame because I always thought she was so fantastic with Phil and wondered where she went. She deserved a better follow up chance with better support from the record label to get some real hits behind her career. Just another lost tragedy in the music business, too many talented people pay their dues and never get the fair return.

Great voice, ok song, dreadful lyrics piling one tired phrase on top of the other, over and over. Reminds me lyrically of the Top Gun song “Danger Zone”. This was the 80’s. Her duet with Phil Collins was really good, though. Much better song and lyrics. I noticed KZbin guitar guru and legendary studio session player, Tim Pierce, is in the band, which is cool.
