I may have a bias, working as I do for Marimba One, but Adam's videos are the absolute best!

Hey Adam, I really like your episodes of The Studio, so keep going! Just a week after I saw this video, I bought two(!) pairs WWR1 from Marktplaats (that's like a dutch version of ebay) for only €74, which is about $77 US or $107 AUS. And if that deal wasn't great enough, I was also sent a pair of Mike Balter's 112B :) I also have a suggestion for another episode: the 18's from the Ensemble Series by Mike Balter. These are as far as I know the biggest mallets ever made, but I've never had the chance to see or hear them. Lots of love from The Netherlands, Remco

You should do a video on the "Round Sound" mallets from Marimba One if possible. Also I'm loving your videos!

+Sir Dante Alucard Great suggestion! I think Marimba One is sending me a set of those soon so it'll happen soon enough :) Thank you for watching!

Will you do a review on the best hard, medium, and soft timpani mallets?

I am assuming that continuing with marimba one week we will have the Katarzyna Mycka mallet line, will definitely be interesting to see...

Chris War Thanks for watching Chris! I made that arrangement up but maybe if enough people back me for it I'll notate it 😀

Maybe you could do marimba covers of latest/popular songs from movies/video games. The problem with your channel is that no one would ever notice it! I didn't even knew these instruments were called marimbas before I started watching you.

Samuel Tan That's a good point! I was going to make covers soon once my recital is over, so hopefully that works well :)

Ah sounds good. All the best for your recital! Heh I found your channel when i searched for a macbookpro unboxing hahaha

Please make a tshirt with a picture of you that says "DOV DOV DOV" (the sound you made when you were talking about mallet hardnesses.) or a shirt of you that says "ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON SAMUUUUUUUUUUUUELS"

so I've been seeing ur love for Robert Van Since so I'd like to have ur opinion: rvs or Bogdan bacanu (Adams malets)? I own 3 pairs of bacanu's and I enjoy the them but for the sake of diversity I'd like to see something else. also, what advice can u give in ratan marimba malets?
@AdamTanPercussion8 жыл бұрын
I still love the van sices most, I think if you want something a bit lighter the Van Sice probably is a good bet :) Wish I could test the Bacanus, they've been on my wish list for a while. I can see the benefits of rattan when it comes to getting a quicker response on the upstroke, which works really well for certain people, but also you have to factor in the durability (rattan flexes and starts to bend after a while) and if you prefer precise control the wobble may not be good for you. I prefer birch because of the stability and durability, but again everyone is different so go with what you like using most :)
@filipecalixto65698 жыл бұрын
Thx! Spoiler alert: bacanu's are very heavy (I really like that) and not 50/50 by any means possible but have very good bass. But having all that in mind about rattan, what pairs would u recommend for somebody who only ever had birch? Also keep up that feedback with the community, it's actually rather impressive how u manage to answer EVERY question, absolutely love it... Cheers!
@AdamTanPercussion8 жыл бұрын
I guessed they might be heavy! In that case yes the van sices will be considerably lighter but they have a good dynamic range for something that is more traditionally shaped (thin bullet style head). I think seeing as you like heavy mallets, you might like the Innovative Percussion Pius Cheung series in rattan. Definitely heavy but the rattan makes it quite responsive :) I can't think of anything else because like you I don't really use rattan much at all... And thank you for stopping by! I love talking to other people who have the same love for the instrument as I do :)
@filipecalixto65698 жыл бұрын
Thx a lot!!! I'll definitely check them out... And man, ure welcome, ur dedication for ur viewers is amazing, I'll definitely pass by more. Plus it's really cool to get opinions from an "outsider", in my school we really just get what our teachers/colleagues do, and it's quite limiting, considering its just a handful of people. It's really nice to to hear what people use in the other side of the world!
@stefangriffin31137 жыл бұрын
They are cool, but dropping $870 for the entire series? Heeelllllll no. I l'll stick to the double helix if I'm playing marimba one.
@AdamTanPercussion7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I wouldn't buy the whole series, that's just overkill ahaha
