Just sold my four corners that I bought new in January 2023 to buy the updated model. Was it necessary? Nope. Do I regret it? Nope. I also picked up a larkspur a while back. Gives me some of the same sensations that my 2018 pine mountain gave me. My only wish is that these entry bikes came with tubeless compatible wheels. The new four corners 2 is tempting, but it’s more bike than I need. Plus, I loved my green four corners and the new turquoise looks sick.

Nice! Just picked up my FC 2020 bike today. Pretty excited. @Marin Bikes how does it handle up hills? I live on hardcore north shore. So my hill climbs go from sea level to 1100meters pretty fast. Any mods that would make it "lighter" and better ascend those steep climbs?

Congrats on the new ride. The Four Corners has wide range gearing, designed for loaded touring/bikepacking, but it's not going to be the fastest one up the hills. You could consider upgrading the wheels and putting tires with smoother tread on it, or just sit up and enjoy the scenery. Have fun!

Marin Four Corners frame (at least size M) wobbles and resonates up to extreme amplitude (Sheldon Brown calls this "shimmy"), if loaded with rack bags in the back, and you try to ride on a smooth descent with hands off the handlebars. It was really scary, when I discovered this. I wonder, if all steel frames are like this, or it is something special to Marin only? The bike really lacks torsional stiffness, unfortunately. So, it is probably fine when used as a gravel unloaded one, but for serious touring this is very inconvenient. This is something others also mention in their reviews/feedbacks.

Hi guys and Marin officials! Just wanna ask about 4c. Do you guys have some BB spacers on the bike (come standard). I notice that the bike is using sora (road) crank set and road BB HT2. I just notice that I have 3 spacers on my BB right now, and as far as I know, a 68mm shell+road bb+road crankset doesn't need spacers. It might be added by my lbs, or come standard from Marin it self, idk. All I know is right now, it's knocking, and seems something wrong with the spacers. Appreciate the help here. Cheers

Based on what you have said, it should be OK, but an easy way to make sure is to check the “stopper plate." If the plate is down and the pin is in the hole on the crank, then the spacing of the BB is correct. If not, it should be checked. Your Marin dealer would be the best to do the inspection.

Hi Saad - the Four Corners should be quite easy to fit mudguards to. Check with your local bike shop for advice, but we like those made by Portland Design Works (ridepdw.com/collections/fenders), Planet Bike (www.planetbike.com/bike-fenders/), and SKS (www.sks-germany.com/en/productcategories/mudguards/). Most of these suppliers have fit guides on their websites.

You could use it for gravel biking just fine. It's just going to be heavier than bikes that aren't meant for bikepacking/touring. Not an issue for me.

Hi Neelesh - the bikes were mostly completely stock, and the only upgrades made were the addition of the amazingly talented riders (Vero Sandler and Nikki Whiles).

@@marin_bikes The reason for my inquisition being I'm looking for a touring rig that could traverse on any road conditions. I feel the Four Corners is quite a nice bike, however, the QR at the front fork and 32 spoke count have me worrying a little. Traditional touring bikes come with a 36 spoke count. Currently, I tour on a foldie, but Indian road conditions hardly encourage the foldie. Besides, the place I live around is pretty hilly.

Of course your conditions may be different from what other Four Corners riders experience, but we frequently see posts and get emails from happy riders who have taken their Four Corners to all points on the globe.

Hi Kavij - 135kg is right at the limit for us, before gear. We suggest working with your local dealer, to ensure that components like the wheels are properly tensioned at delivery, as well as after ≈200 km of use. Some riders will have wheels with higher spoke counts made, that are a bit better equipped to handle the weigh.

Hello - yes, it is difficult to test ride bikes in these times of COVID-fueled bike demand. Since you are on the bubble between sizes, it may come down to your body proportions. If you have longer legs, go with the M to get more extension. You can also try to compare the geometry specs against your current bike, to see which may be more in line with what you are comfortable on.

I especially want to have this upright driving position which seems to be the main feature of the geometry of the 4c. I also want to be able to easily get off and show off the bike when it is used in the city. I don't know if my proportions are standard: I have a crotch height of 80.5 cm.

@@tomtom-xl3bc Hello - Vero is about 2-3cm shorter than you are. Sizing is also somewhat of a personal preference. Some riders like the bikes to be a little small under them, while others like riding larger bikes.

Hi Afif - while both will work for you, it really depends on personal preference when one is "on the bubble" between sizes. For instance, I am on the bubble and use a Nicasio 2 as a commuter, so I went with the smaller size so that my riding position is a touch more upright than on my more performance-oriented bikes where I like to have a roomy top tube. Some riders prefer smaller size frames if they're taking their bikes off paved surfaces as well. Your local bike shop should be able to help guide you to the one that they feel is best for your needs.

Hi Joe - it's hard to say, as it really comes down to rider fitness, terrain and road surface. A bike like the Four Corners will certainly not be as fast or efficient as a road race bike, but far more so than a mountain bike.

@@joekoshy8247 Hi Joe - it's really hard to give a firm figure on that, but I would not be surprised if one rolled along on a Four Corners at a speed roughly 25% lower than on a road race bike. This would be due to the Four Corners tires having more rolling resistance, a heavier frame, and the rider being in a more upright (and arguably more comfortable) but less aerodynamic position. Kind of like the difference between running in lightweight running shoes and hiking-oriented shoes. Or driving a Subaru Outback vs. a Porsche 911.
