Well it depends on what you define as art. If I were to draw a ultra realistic picture with oil paints would that count as art? I used to struggle as you do, and to your credit there are lots of pseudo artists who try to get their cheap fame using the fact that modern art is relatively easier to make, which makes the whole medium seem as stupid. But I think it's great because it only represents the idea of the art work rather than its visuality.

I came here to understand what performance art is. I don't understand it very much, mostly because of my ignorance in this format. Other then that, cultural boundary is also responsible. But it is deeply depressing seeing so many people in comment section describing this form of art as satanic or psychopathic, It is not. There are no such thing as satan or demon. Or if this lady is psychopathic, such disease should have exist in other culture or in other countries too. But the reality is, other then some developed countries, performance artists are rare. Our ignorance about something doesn’t make it wrong.

There is no true definition of the word “art.” There’s no set of criteria for what makes something art or not art. It’s meant to be personal to each viewer and evoke some sort of feeling or emotion. Abramovic’s work is all about pushing limits and testing boundaries, so of course it is going to be too much for some or difficult to understand. So if you don’t like it, simply... do not look at it. It’s as simple as that.
