The meaning of this song goes so deep and is what really helped me through as everything in the song relates to me. I have this overachieving nature that is obsessed with achieving success, even if that means losing myself. Thinking that success that will me happy, and I've been so unhappy all my life. So it doesn't matter if the process to get to where I want to be ("bright") has an opposite effect on me and only makes me worse ("dark"). "The lower I fall" in life acts as an incentive to "climb higher" in life. Meaning that the more unhappy I get, the more I want to be happy. In this perspective, what is happiness? Success. The process of pushing my self to do great only results in me feeling worse. In a metaphorical sense, I kill myself in hopes that I'll one day feel alive again. (Part 1, because I want to further explain the meaning and importance of this song to everybody, but I've reached the character limit).

I'm so obsessed with being the best that I'm willing to sacrifice my own wellbeing and sacrifice the opportunity to form relationships with my friends and family. I feel unworthy of having relationships with friends and family because I know that I will inevitably hurt them in the end. I will hurt them because the only thing I'll ever truly care about is myself, not others. As a result, I push these people away so they don't get in the way of my success. To summarize the last 4 sentences, my obsession with success has made me lose my priorities. The whole "how it ends" part is symbolic of the distorted perception that pushing people away and sacrificing your happiness is the only way to achieve greatness. I've been "silent all my life" so when I admit that I need someone to help me it's too late because I can't "yell" for anyone to help. Nobody is there to help because I had pushed everybody away from me and isolated myself. (Part 2)

I can't show weakness because then it feels as if I'm failing in my own eyes by showing vulnerability because I'm such an overachiever. Emotions start to be interpreted as a sign of weakness, so I simply repress my emotions and carry on functioning so I can be successful with no distractions. In the end, I'm terrified of success because I'm a trophy, but even the big ones get put on the shelf. Even the most successful of people eventually die out. All fires eventually burn out. All waves eventually crash. I become consumed by an internal fear of becoming successful and then dying out and becoming insignificant and useless. However, this fear is rarely admitted to myself because feeling emotions is such a foreign concept. Anything and everything is repressed, which results in feeling numb all the time. "I'll wonder why I got dark only to shine" basically means that Marina wonders why she made herself unhappy in order to be happy. (Part 3)

I hope this helped explain the meaning of the song better, because I believe it's important to know just how deep the actual meaning is.
