Hi Alex I watched this video with a hint of sadness as I knew that Lyndon's cars were no more. I sincerely hope he can get back on his feet again at some point and the insurance side is sorted as soon as possible. Take care, Jon B. 🙂

The underside of the Marina is fantastic for the year. Gutted for Lyndon losing everything.

It is more than tragic what has happened to Lyndon and I hope everything works out well for him it is actually heartbreaking, I hope he doesn't have any insurance issues but the car and the hostory of the workshop are irreplaceable. Always a good video Alex.

Thanks Mate. I was worried about causing upset to Lyndon by posting this video, but he said he looked forward to seeing it's "last moments" . It's all good memories now with a bad ending.

This is the sort of content that makes me happy. Keeping an old thing on the road. And a Marina. 😅

I really enjoyed this video, it's a lovely thing seeing cars from your childhood. I'm really gutted for Lyndon, I hope everything goes ok with the insurance but I guess some things just can't be replaced like the cars.

It was really sad to see Lyndon’s workshop so utterly destroyed by the fire. I truly do feel for him and hope that he can rebuild & start making new memories 💔

Lyndon seems like a sound lad. Hopefully some good things come his way this year.😊

1.8 those were good, had an O series 17 that ran sweet, that was an Estate, was a good old bus that was. reminding me to check the fluids in the P6 ... thanks.

Sad to think the place is burnt out now and everything he has is gone 🥺 We do make a habit of keeping all our eggs in the one basket. Does he have anything in the shipping containers across the yard?
@AlexsassetsАй бұрын
😔 very sad. No it was all lost in the fire 😔

Just wanted to say that Lyndon's tip on using a bent cable tie has obviously made an impression. I've just woken up from a dream in which I was checking fluid levels with a cable tie! What exciting dreams I have 😂

I had to mount a customer's shaving cabinet through a tiled wall. I had to use a bent cable tie in drilled holes to find the timber studs. All hail the cable tie 😂

That reminds me, must change gearbox oil on all our cars, especially the Figaro's automatic gearbox, which is dirty!

Could help but look at all Lyndon's workshop and cars that are wrecked. I don't know Lyndon, but really sorry he's had to go through this loss. Really sad. 😢

I once forgot to check the oil in the diff on my Morris Ital. The diff exploded in Bournemouth my missus at the time was not best pleased. She did leave me for somebody who drove a Nissan Premera.

😱😱😱😱😱 not a Nissan ! Nooo
@davidking9707Ай бұрын
@@Alexsassets I'm afraid so. But hey, I am nicer and better looking and funnier so it is a huge loss to her lol!!!!! The missus I have now has a Nissan XTrail. My next car is going to be another Morris Ital :D

Love the fact that you get stuck into your project cars. I will have to sweet talk a gentleman round the corner, with his two Lincoln Navigators (one being restored) if I borrow his car lift. Who knows?

That must have been a difficult decision to make Alex - knowing whether to post this. Hope Lyndon is ok.

It was Lyndon that pestered me to edit / post video. He was looking forward to seeing it for happy memories. I was worried about how he would feel. I did do one with a sad ending but it was toooooo sad. So i cut out the sadness.

Psst, The bump stop rubbers are missing from the rear axle.
@EvilUnderToneАй бұрын
Rear wheel bearings can deteriorate just through sitting around. The race becomes pitted hence the rumble. Happens a lot with cars left in lockup's for years.

I never really understood why most car manufacturers in the 60s stopped putting drain plugs on their diffs ,but carried on putting them on the gearbox?

Looking at gearbox,there are a few options regarding dampness.hopefully it's the seal on gearstick mount,but could actually be front seal on box.u say I rented the ramp ? Surely he didn't charge u to use it ? X

Yeah and I gave him extra to say thanks 😊

Alex front wheel bearing are the normal easy ones the rears are a different story you need pullers and ideally a press car doesn’t look to bad underneath and yes that is the jacking point
@LeeFradleyАй бұрын
Hi Alex try rimmer brothers. For you older car sundries. Ben from tasty classics gets a lot af his bits from there.

@AlexsassetsАй бұрын
Some say..... it still lives inside the wheel arch today.....
@duggy788Ай бұрын
Alex you don't really need to put ptfe on the drain plugs/filler plugs as they are a tapered thread design i never did and they never leaked .
@AlexsassetsАй бұрын
I just worry
@emma.j.nationАй бұрын
If it’s a BSPT plug, the threads are truncated at the crests and roots so it leaves a gap that forms a spiral path for leakage. You might get away without leaks if you really dog the plug up tight, but it’s good practice to use something to seal the joint and use a bit less torque.
@duggy788Ай бұрын
@@emma.j.nation they were never fitted with any kind of sealant from the factory in my 40 plus years of working on cars fitted with such i have never seen one leak and they don't need to be over tightened actually over tightening can burst the housing which can happen if you use ptfe , they are not the same as the plumbing fittings .
