Discipline your mind and get in the best shape you can before you go. Don't bulk up, concentrate on endurance and being lean. Train to the PFT situps, chinupsNOT pullups and three mile run. See if your recruiter can hook you up with other poolees and run in formation and sing cadence. That'll increase your lung capacity, very important. And whatever you do don't shave your head or get any military style ink. Practice humility. And NEVER, NEVER EVER QUIT!! Be wary of mail from your brother.

It might also depend on the company, too. Our Senior would slay our entire platoon at least 2-3 times a week and fuck up our squad bay at least once. If anything, I found it got harder around 2nd and 3rd phase.

The confidence course had some obstacles that were easy, and some that were a bitch. There were a few I couldn't do because when I went down this one obstacle, I didn't get a good grip on the rope, slid down a bit, and let go, so I dropped about 20 feet. The fall disoriented me a bit, but the accidental slide down the rope sheared off a big chunk of skin from my palms, and the DI sent me to the Corpsman, who didn't let me continue.

@ducatiprofessional yeah, sounds like you had a REAL job. I chose infantry, did great until about the time I got to my duty station. Nothing to do with Infantry. All ceremonial marching. Some of it was awe inspiring, but a lot of times I felt like I just didn't fit in. I still talk with one of my buddies, he's in the army right now, and he's in Afghanistan. He told me its another "Vietnam" and don't believe anything you hear in the news, those were his exact words. Semper Fi.

@Dracanon It is another vietnam. They only thing i can make of it is that our troops are getting outstanding experience and training for another conflict which i believe is right around the corner. In some part of the world. Maybe korea or iran. The problem with being overseas as long as the afghanistan fight, is that the troops get displacent and loose focus. Is there still a points system to rely on for rotation? Hope your friend keeps his powder dry and eye balls sharp.

Judging by the video camera (no recruit would be filming), and the fact the Sergeant is referring to a graduation that had just taken place, he's talking to civilian family members.

@user-bx3hz6wl5m5 ай бұрын
This is right before graduation as he says this. He is probably the senior drill instructor. as you know the senior has the job of being fatherly. he knew these recruits who were right there at that moment were going to make it through. This would have been after the crucible. Its one of the rare moments when the Senior talks to you like a human and then turns you over to the heavy and the shitting on you continues. Don't overthink it lol

I know in the Marine's they are getting more strict about tattoos on recruits, anyway. If you had so many tattoos before a more strict rule was set than it was fine, but future people are not so lucky. I have met some guys with almost sleeves. I would say 90% of Marines (guys and gals) have at least 1 tattoo. They do have regulations though.
